I bought this to replace a Polar M600. The Fenix is a game changer. Very user friendly with an abundance of user defined functions. Connectivity to Garmin Connect is awesome

I’ve only had it three days so I’m still trying to get use to all the features. But I’m loving it so far.

The display brightness is terrible. On Garmin website it shows complete different
Response from GarminBy ChrisGarminFebruary 5, 2019
We are sorry to hear you do not like the brightness settings. It is possible to adjust them via the menu though. You can also set a gesture option where when you raise the watch to look at it, the backlight turns on.

Expected a little more smart phone for the money!

I bought this on a Friday and have worn it since as my daily wear/ activity watch. The pros: I love the build, I think it's a very nice looking watch, well made with a ton of features.
The cons: For the price I would have expected it to at least have a more intuitive operating system instead I get this very cumbersome device that's gives more aggravation than actual use. A prime example is when switching activities, going from strength training, (which I actually found to be smooth once I got the hang of it) to running on the treadmill was a huge pain in the rear! Again, there's no "Garmin for Dummies" and navigating the buttons to attempt to start a new workout just left me aggravated.
For the cost of this "high-end" device, I would expect, or darn-near demand it to at least have a touch screen for easier navigation between workouts or even options.

We are pleased to hear you are generally happy with the Fenix 5X. I think you will find the buttons quite intuitive when you get used to them. We do have some watches with touchscreens but it is by design that we do not on the Fenix line as it can be a detriment in some of the offered activities. We do also have a very helpful online support center that will help you with the setup : https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?productID=603229&tab=topics
