I've been using my new LG V40ThinQ for 10 days now and I love the camera modes like cine shot, flash jump-cut and 360 panorama. LG software is easy to understand. The phone feels good in my hands and the screen is bright and huge.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Simply put I love this phone, mainly for the user interface & smooth operation. I am not a fan of the BIG S experience & i have had an s2, an s5 and recently an s7, & i always end up frustrated with them after a while. This LG has similiar features and is a pleasure to use for business & for pleasure. The navigation & notifications are very convenient & i find i can easily multitask on this phone and be very productive at work with ease ! Love it. My only real gripe is the boomsound speaker is a letdown i feel , especially as i have it in an obx case. sort of defeats the speaker chamber echo effect. I was expecting it to be louder & sound better, frankly I would prefer a front facing stereo speaker set up if there are any future impovements to this model. I am very happy with the camera app & the ease of sharing pictures, I would however like better telephoto picture clarity & I do think some of the pictures with the regular lens could sometimes be sharper. all in all it does work quite well. Takes awesome video & nice shots in lower light so all in all the camera experience is quite good, just could maybe use a little clarity or lens tweaks. I am so happy I picked this phone over some of the larger sold brands. if your interested in this phone just go get it. you wont regret it,
I would recommend this to a friend!

One of the best Media Phones

The V series has been the LG model line I've used for the past few years, primarily because of its audio features (the DAC, the DTS software etc.) and the fact that I can use my good headphones with these phones. The V40 is no exception, and the Boom Sound external speaker is a great add-on--I've found it very useful for speakerphone calls in noisier environments.
Even after a couple of years the 845 processor is still plenty powerful, and I see very smooth operation with little stuttering. The 6GB RAM is still adequate as well. Overall, it still outperforms midrange devices with 700 Series processors.
As a comms device, the phone call quality is very good, no complaints, other than wifi calls with dodgy connections can suffer a bit with dropped signal.
As far as the camera goes, my favorite mode to use is the Manual one---it takes more fiddling, and of course it doesn't lend itself so much to the fast snapshot, though the other modes allow for that. There are GCAM versions that can work with this phone, and do provide an alternative means of getting snapshots if you're not into manual controls.
By this time, software update support for the V40 on Verizon has pretty much ended, and I wish the updates had been more numerous, timely and could be provided for another year, as the phone is far from obsolete at this time.
Finally, I find the battery life only fair. It was the last of the V Series to have undersized 3300 mAH batteries, and it shows. On a good day, starting from 100%, I can barely get to four hours of screen time before the charge state is down to 30% or below. Most of the time that's OK for my needs, but if you spend your day out and about, and use your V40 for navigation and office connectivity, you'll need a wall charger or a portable external battery to be safe. Perhaps the battery life would be better if the LG OS software was a bit leaner, with fewer duplicate apps that run unused in the background.
