Very powerful and good recorder at day and night.

I bought this camera system 4K 8 (16) camera on Wed Oct. 17, 2018, a few years ago and am so happy that I did catch some bad guys around my house at night and day very clear video. The system still very good until today. Now I want to buy 1 more for my front door so I can talk both ways. Thank you.

Never captures longer than 30s

So I’ve had this unit x2 for 4 months and what a waste. The cameras are forever not working they don’t pick up motion and when they do you get 30 seconds then it stops and then starts again if your lucky.. I had someone come to the door unwanted it got them at the door not the gate took video for 30second and stopped.. frustrating as they moved to the garage I got another 30s clip then nothing.. the cameras are constantly saying errors.. fed up.. when it does work ie I hear something and manually switch on the camera the picture is great
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This camera can record longer than 30 seconds. PIR sensors work optimally when the camera is mounted around looking down somewhat and the subject of detection passes across their front. The more the object must "cross" the front of the camera the better the detection reliability. When placing your camera try to avoid situations where the subject would move straight toward the camera if possible. You may need to experiment with the sensitivity settings in the app and camera placement to get the ideal mix of detection.
We would recommend you call in and speak with a member of our support team to help set up masks within the recorder settings. This can help reduce the number of false triggers. The camera has a great picture, but field of view is poor. The area it cover is not wide.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for reaching out to us and providing your feedback. This camera has one of the largest viewing angles for our current line of production. This has a viewing angle of 93°. We would recommend setting your cameras slightly further away from the subject to get a better viewing range.

My Findings

I purchased this camera in May 2020. It arrived within 2 days which was great. I plugged it in to my NVR and although I got it to work I had problems with some of the settings. I set the PIR to scan the whole of the screen covering the view from outside my house and also set the alarm for sounding if anyone entered the masking area. I then did a daylight walking test from across the road walking towards the front of my house. I was expecting the white spotlights on the front of the camera to come on with the siren sounding off as I approached my driveway, Sadly the spotlights and the siren only came on when I was about 2 feet from my front door which I am not happy about. I think if I was to raise the view of the camera it would not be viewing my front doorstep which would not be ideal.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this camera nearly 3 weeks ago but find the settings quite difficult to understand and set up correctly I am 74 yrs old and I am still trying to set it up properly.
Bought as a replacement for one of my 4K cameras as it had spotlight and speaker with alarm. High definition great able to zoom fairly tight if necessary. Speaker not that good may deter somebody but you cannot shout them off. The alarm is the same, not much volume but could be an extra deterrent. The only downside is the Swann Security app. It is very unstable, both on iOS and Android, keeps closing down or freezing.
I bought my system and it had 2 already. I liked them so much I purchased 2 more. They work great and have great picture quality in day and night.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great hardware, however rushed integration 1/10 !

The hardware of this camera is actually not bad however you cannot even change the image settings on this camera..... Even tech support have no answer (to call this a joke is understatement).
Both NVR8-8580 and this cam needs a firmware fixes!
