Solid build but the app is horrible.

The camera is well built and solid. The night vision and motion detection seem to work very well.
The app needs A LOT of work.
First of all the setup process was tedious and I had to restart it 3 times because it wasn't able to connect properly.
After finally setting it up and mounting it outside, I noticed the aspect ratio was very odd when viewing footage. It seems like the aspect ratio is based on the width of the phone and not a set 16:9 or other similar ratio. Tilting the phone over will put it in full screen view and stretch the video horizontally.
Another knock is the timeline review with the SD card. When scrolling through the timeline the camera will stop recording in real time which means you end up with gaps in the footage.
Again with the timeline review, scrolling around looking at footage is hit and miss. You will sometimes load the video or it will just hang on the loading icon. Very frustrating.

I have two of these cameras. One set up perfectly no problems. The second one has been a nightmare. The Night Owl Connect app has bugs , the tech support , are useless, if they cannot read about the problem they can’t help you, so then they become defensive and extremely rude! The problems I was having over a 3 day period were only resolved by digging away at it with help from my son. Yep it took three days! So frustrating that I wanted to just pitch it somewhere! Seems to be working ok now, but we will see? I wouldn’t buy another one unless there was someone around that could help me and or keep me from throwing it at someone.

Cameras okay, app terrible

The cameras themselves are not bad. Decent image and fairly easy to set up. However the app that comes with this product, which you are forced to use, is absolutely terrible. It takes closing the app and restarting it at least twice to even see the cameras. Finding older recordings is a pain as there is no library only a timeline that bugs out if you go earlier than 1 day. The app sometimes gives notifications for movement but stops very often without warning and you have to log out then back in again to view and get notifications again.
All in all, buy a slightly more expensive product that allows you to manage your recordings and alerts with a 3rd party app or another brand that has a half decent app.
