Cheap Aluminum Trash

I received the MG-100 as a gift. I would normally review product specs carefully, but didn’t do much homework on this particular model. I am appalled that Cuisinart would put their name on a grinder with aluminum parts. Meat grinders are inherently prone to contamination. Using a dishwasher to clean parts that come into contact with raw meat is the only way to ensure proper sterilization. Using cheap aluminum versus stainless steel should be a real source of shame for the product development and engineering teams at Cuisinart. Aluminum for raw meat is just gross. Handwashing chicken covered aluminum parts in my sink is disgusting and unsanitary, and I’m sure Cuisinart understood this when it opted to go cheap. This is the last Cusinart product that will enter my home.

Every time I bought hamburger in the grocery store or even the meat store there would be gristle. So when I saw the advertisement for the Cuisinart Electric Meat Grinder I decided this would solve my problem with gristle. Now I buy steak and use the grinder every week. Fantastic product and I do not know how I did without it all these years.

Unit failed after 15 minutes into the grinding process. I noted this in other reviews before buying but took a chance. Input gear to the grinding shaft had a plastic gear that split during grinding process. I followed all instructions but basically the unit is not robust. Returned for full refund.

I bought this grinder and a part of it broke after just a few uses. I wanted to purchase a replacement but it seems that they sell everything but the part that easily breaks.

I'm very happy with the results we got from this machine! My 86 year old mom and 90 year old dad have been making sausage with a hand grinder for over 60 years! I've been helping them do it since I was a kid and used to watch and then got promoted to turning the crank handle. The job was hard and took a long time to feed the meat into the binder with one hand and turn the handle with the other. It was a constant stop and go. With this machine doing all the cranking, the steady flow of the process can be kept going till the meat runs out. We typically make 40lbs of sausage at one time and this machine worked well throughout. It also made stuffing the casings easier. The stainless steel pieces are easy to clean and the tools that come with the machine are useful and well thought out. The only thing that worries me about this product are the plastic gears. They worked really well for the first time using it but I wonder how they will hold up over time.

A great product by a trusted name in home appliances. I am currently using this to grind up my brisket trim and turn it into the best hamburgers you have ever tasted. It is so easy to use and clean.
