When it's working, it's great

I have had this dock for about 5 months. I have a 13" Mac Pro connected to 2 additional monitors. Most of the time, I am able to plug my laptop in and everything works as expected. About once a week, I have to reset the display orientations because they get mixed up - it would be nice if the settings remained the same each time I plug it back in. I wouldn't have taken the time to review that bug if that was my only issue. About once a month, I come it, plug my laptop in, and only 1 of the monitors will work. It's never the same monitor that works, each time I connect and disconnect, it's a gamble on which one will connect. I have tried EVERYTHING, from resetting settings, changing wires, using every sort of monitor connection, and nothing has ever resolved it. Randomly. the second monitor will just start working again. Very frustrating, spending hours trying to get a monitor to work instead of getting my actual work done.

We always try to ensure our customers have exceptional experiences with our products and we apologize for the difficulties you're seeing with our TB3DK2DPPD. This dock should not have difficulties with the displays moving around or not coming up at all and you may be able to fix this by doing an SMC and NVRAM reset on your Mac. Best one out there, but...
on April 10, 2018

I bought this to use with my Macbook Pro 15, 2017. After reading the issues that primarily involved (Windows) drivers and cabling, I paired it with a Nekteck TB3 cable to the dock, and a Club3d CAC-1066 DP cable to a ThinkVision L27q (4k, 60Hz). Plus a Cat6 cable and a Logitech wireless USB receiver. Audio jacks are recognized and work fine. Can't speak to dual displays, but if you do, watch what HDMI port you use on your monitor, not all of them support 4k60Hz. (Ran into that with a Samsung 4k monitor + Radeon Pro card.)
Here's my gripe, and I'm not sure where the breakdown is: The USB 3.0 ports on the monitor do not work unless the monitor is driven by the USB 3.0 connection, not DP. When both DP and USB cables are connected, the MBP thinks there are three displays, even though I only have one selected (obviously). Maybe its a firmware issue with the L27u, maybe the Dock, maybe the MBP. Not sure. This means that I can't plug in my factory USB soundbar, the Logitech receiver, or anything else into the 4 USB ports on the monitor. And since there's only 2 USB 2.0 ports on the dock, it limits the number of devices I can use at once.
Just something to think about, but overall its a very good dock. Looks great on my desk too!

My laptop requires a min of 85W so this fits the bill and it does work on Linux. Tested with kernel 5.0.8. Remember to add the dock to approved Thunderbolt ACL list. :~$ sudo tbtadm approve-all Found domain "/sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/domain0" Found child "/sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/domain0/0-0/0-3" Authorizing "/sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/domain0/0-0/0-3" Added to ACL Authorized

Makes me appreciate my Mac

Purchased to work with my HP Spectra x360 15in 2017. It does not work with two monitors out of the box with the supplied drivers. Windows 10 Pro 64 is up-to-date, computer is up-to-date with all Intel and HP updates.. I am waiting for a reply from technical support. Everything works perfectly when I plug in my Mac. So I know it is not a cable issue. It is my Windows 10 work computer I need it for. It works with 1 monitor attached. I can get two external monitors to work if I plug one into the computer's HDMI port, but that is not why I purchased it.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. We hope we can help.
In order for two monitors to work, one needs to be connected to the DisplayPort port on the back of the dock, and the other to the Thunderbolt 3 (Type-C) port also on the BACK of the dock (beside the DP port). The Type-C port on the front of the dock is data-only and cannot be used for a monitor connection.
We have also replied to your support email with some further questions. We also have Technical Support Advisors available 24 hours, 5 days a week for live support by chat or phone.

Great but...

I love the simplicity of this device. I plug in one USB-C connection on my Mac and it supports two monitors. Everything works as expected. I just have one complaint (let me know if you have a solution). When I plug it in in the morning, sometimes it ignores my screen organization. It will put my left screen image on the right monitor and my right screen image on the left monitor. I can usually fix it by unplugging it and plugging it back in, but I'd like the screens to just come up correctly all the time.

Good in theory, torture in practice
on March 25, 2020

This dock is more or less working as a thunderbolt dock - my MacBook is connected to external monitor (5k @ 60Hz), USB stuff and charging.
However - it creates a squealing noise (most likely from the power supply) that is absolute torture that singlehandedly makes $5000 of laptop, monitor, and accessories awful to be around.
In this state, this dock literally has negative value.

Displayport Does Not Stay Active
on April 18, 2022

I was provided this dock by my company to handle the external monitors they provided. I am unable to use this with a DisplayPort cable from my monitor, the image becomes unstable. I am able to utilize an HDMI cable with an adapter but each day I have to unplug and replug the adapter. I have tried multiple different active adapters and they all have the same issue. So the dock works, but there are better docks out there for the same price point that function flawlessly.

Some problems
on January 25, 2019

It worked great for 2 weeks for my Macbook Pro. USB devices stopped working after 2 weeks with the dock. Power delivery and displays still work. Now I need a separate dongle for my USB devices. Might try to return this device and get something else that works.
