Bought this drive today and the write is ~10.5 MB/s on NTFS and ~17MB/s on exFAT!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I used it 3 times, the fourth one tells me .... protected registration. I tried everything.It is not corrected. Never again Samsung.!!!

Kostas: I am very sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues using your BAR Plus USB Flash Drive. Based on your review, it may be that your drive is write protected - possibly caused by a Window’s bug issue.
The following could help to disable the write protection.
1. Use the command prompt to clear attributes. a. Launch a command prompt using the Windows and R keys, typing "cmd" and tap OK. b. Type "Diskpart" and confirm. c. Type "List disk". d. Validate with the Enter key to obtain the list of disks present. e. Look for the number of the USB key by locating to its capacity. f. Select the key by typing "Select disk X" and validate. g. To remove the read-only attribute, type "Attributes disk clear readonly" and validate. h. Type "Attributes disk", then validate to check the result of the operation. i. Type "Exit" and confirm to quit the program. j. Once you exit, re-plug your USB flash drive to check if the write protection error is resolved.
2. Edit the registry. a. Open the Start menu. b. Tap Run. c. Type "Regedit" and press Enter to open the registry editor. d. Go to the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ StorageDevicePolicies. e. Double click the WriteProtect key in the right panel and set the value to 0. f. Press OK. g. Exit the Registry. h. Reboot your computer, and then re-connect your USB drive to your computer.
3. Format write-protected USB drive with a partition manager

worked one time yesterday - now it won't stay mounted on any pc in the house. mounts for 10-15 seconds and then throws an error and disconnects.

Only lasted 7 months !

it stopped workiing after 7 months. had slow writing speeds of less than 40 mb/s in a windows laptop where its reading speeds only reached a max of about 200 mb/s. heated up by 10°c of room temperature within the first 15-20 minutes of being plugged in to a usb 3.0 port. what a waste of money.

Big disappointment.
The read speed is OK, but the write speed is unbelievably poor.
I get 260 MB/sec read speed.
Writing is less than 60 MB/sec. Snoooooooooooze.
Don't buy this product. The advertising "Up to 300MB/s Data Transfer Speed" is grossly misleading.

Fast, Reliable, Small, Lifgt

This is a great flash drive. The design allows for pocket carry. The transfer speeds are extremely fast. I purchased 20 total of these drives for restoring baseline images via acronis. The 3.1 speeds are drastically greater than the 3.0. Also, if considering purchasing the 648Gb, the speeds between the two are drastically in favor of the 128Gb version. Invest the few extra dollars in the 128Gb version for the significantly upgraded transfer speeds.
Pros: Inexpensive, Lightweight, Durable
I would recommend this to a friend!

Get the Sandisk Extreme

The writing speed from a PC to the device is from 40mb to 45 mb. My Sandisk Extreme kills this thing.
