Heating problem

Hi.. My recently purchased (10 days back) My Passport Ultra drive is getting heated up easily even in not copying. While copying about 100 GB, it is getting heated up to 46 deg C. Sometimes comes to 48 deg C. Even without copying it comes to 42 - 43 deg C. Please give your reply.

I've bought several of the WD 2 TB My Passport Ultra and have had good luck so far, and have bought a couple of the 4 TB as well. I use them for external storage and also for Time Machine backups for my Macs. The adapter these come with is essential for USB ports and backwards compatibility, and I'm VERY glad the adapter is included. Transfer speeds work for me when moving data back and forth, and the storage space is great as far as how much data fits on these drives. So far so good for me! I've read a lot of people saying that these fail prematurely, so I hope that doesn't happen to mine.

Broken after 1 use, backup software is extra cost

I purchased 10 mths ago. I was disappointed when I plugged it in and found out the WD backup software
requires you to purchase a plan to use it with this drive. While the software is free when using it for my other older My Passport WD drives. So I manually just copied over the files. Once complete I properly ejected the disc and placed it in my safe. Pulled out to do an annual back up and the drive did not work. Just makes a clicking sound for 5 seconds and stops. My PC never recognizes the drive. I spent way to much money for this drive to not work. I do feel like this is all a scam for a product between the additional software costs and a drive that did not work. It annoying that I now need to go find another brand.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
