A Content Creator’s Dream Come True

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A content creator’s dream come true. This monitor is designed for the creative professional or advanced designer. It is a perfect solution for photographers, videographers, design studios, video production, and animation designers. This heavy duty (solid metal stand with plastic base cover) monitor has a very bright matte finish screen and protruding bezel. The combination of the bezel and the matte finish help reduce glare and make this screen amazingly clear and crisp (as opposed to some more popular brands glossy screens). It can be mounted with the VESA style mounting threads on the back or can be clicked into the provided stand (now screws!! just a mechanical button to release.. really nice). The monitor is able to move up and down on the stand, as well as tilt and swivel allowing the perfect viewing angle.
This robust monitor has built in automatic calibration tool. That’s right, built in!! It can be programmed to run on a schedule or manually engaged. It comes down from the built in housing automatically and runs a calibration cycle. Once calibrated, the colors really pop and are extremely vibrant. This display is capable of 100% of sRGB and 99% of AdobeRGB color gamuts. It is extremely accurate which is perfect for content creators who rely on color accuracy. Overall it is fairly bright at 220 nits, it displays deep dark blacks, smooth gradients, excellent extended color gamuts, all while maintaining incredible contrast.
The monitor is a bit complicated for the average user, and there are more settings and controls that one might need. However, professionals will love the control and flexibility. Getting the monitor set up will take some time, but once calibrated it is incredible. It also includes a built in KVM switch, allowing you to switch sources without moving cables or unplugging anything (great for those who move around between machines). The on screen display menu is controlled by physical function buttons located on the front bezel and the menu is well organized and easy to navigate. The buttons can be set to glow red, white, auto off, or off all the time, which is nice when working in a dark atmosphere.
Overall this is an incredible display. The color is beautiful, the builtin calibration is a huge plus, and display is one of the best I have encountered. If you are a content creator, amateur to professional, this monitor is the one! I would say this is one of the best tools you can buy, I highly recommend it.
Pros: Affordable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a professional photographer and this monitor changed the way I looked at and edited my photos so far. This matte finish screen helps reduce glare and has such accurate colors. It is perfect for me as depend on color accuracy. Setting up the monitor took some time but, once I was done setting up, it is the best monitor I could have. Built in KVM switch allowed me to switch sources from my PC to laptop with changing cables, which I found so convenient. It is the best monitor a creative person can have. Highly recommend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I need an extra large monitor, not only for my eyesight, but for the fine detail work needed for graphic art/photography editing etc. I do. I’m thrilled to say the HP Dreamcolor Z27 x G2 is the absolute BOMB that not only fits my needs, but has far surpassed what I expected. I didn’t realize what I was missing in regards to my art until I started using the HP. the resolution & quality just blows me away! I’m so excited to be able to do so much more then I was previously able to on much smaller monitors. Hook up is easy, directions easy to follow. You need this!!!
Pros: Affordable, Lightweight

Really good if not perfect monitor for creatives

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Packaging/delivery: It is packed extremely well with very heavy duty cardboard and lots of molded foam. I think you could have dropped it off a rooftop and the monitor would have been fine. Mine arrived in perfect condition.
In the box: Was really pleased with all of the ports available and that their associated cords were supplied - including a USB-C/Thunderbolt for my mac. They also include a mounting bracket if VESA mount on your desk. I did laugh a bit about having an install CD included, does HP even make a machine with a CD drive these days?
Form: It's big. And bulky looking. And heavy at 26lbs. Though I like how sturdy it feels. The sliding and twisting action on the arm that allows you to adjust the height and angle is really smooth and works very well. Note it does not spin 90 degrees - but you wouldn't use a monitor like this turned portrait. Overall, I don't really like the form but if that's the tradeoff for something built to last it's fine.
The Screen: First off, know this is 2560x1440, not 4k. Because I work on a large retina monitor all day, every day, that makes text and vector images look a bit bitmapped to my eye. I think if you're used to standard HD or 2560x1440, you'd probably not be bothered. But noticed it immediately. The other thing I noticed immediately was that the color are very vibrant. This is an area where the monitor surpasses my Apple monitor. The color gamut is incredible. Which, as an animator, I'm really pleased with. I also very much like how they've been able to cut glare down. The surface is matte and also recessed a bit into the (bulky) bezel and that all helps with glare. It's not an extremely bright monitor, though I work with the lights down and suspect most photographers, video editors and animators do as well and it's not an issue.
What else?: There's a built-in color calibration tool. It's automatic and doesn't require a computer. That's pretty amazing. Also, there's a KVM switch built in, so you can have more than one machine plugged in and switch them without moving plugs. Great feature.
This monitor is a REALLY good professional monitor if you work with imagery. I can't call it perfect based on some relatively small things, namely I wish it were 4k and "sleeker". But I'm happy.

Hi sam_t, thank you for the review! We are happy that you are enjoying your HP DreamColor Display and appreciate your detailed feedback as it helps us plan future products. Also, we get a lot of questions on compatibility, so thanks for clarifying that this display works with your Mac.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This item is exactly what the description portrayed and so far has been what we expected and needed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I finally broke down and bought a 27-inch display for working at home, instead of squinting at my laptop screen. Really nice luxury.
