Major installation problem

Beware! Although the literature states that the hood works with a 7’ 7 in. ceiling height, it does NOT. If you are using this hood for recycling air, not ducting outside, you need a 7’ 10 in. ceiling height or the vents will be covered. You learn this in the owner’s manual AFTER you purchase it. You need a 24 in. outer duct and GE claims to not make one. Very disappointed to research this and be led astray.

We're happy to provide some clarification on the vent hood installation. The vent hood must be installed between the 24” required minimum and 36” recommended maximum above the cooking surface. We recommend viewing installation instruction on page 8 of the manual at this link here:

Quiet and good lighting

We love that it doesn’t sound like a jet plane taking off like our last vent fan. Bought it for the LED light feature and are satisfied with our purchase.

We'd like to assist you with your hood making sounds. This hood requires 8” ducting to perform optimally. Using smaller duct pipe will cause reduced venting. We recommend minimizing the duct run length and number of transitions and elbows.
