Wired system so was time consuming installation

Decent Security Cam System

Replaced an older Swann Security Cam System with this one. Had to get used to the "fisheye" lens but works fine with some cam adjustments and the picture quality is better. I was disappointed with no prerecording options like my old less expensive unit had with multiple prerecord time adjustment choices. This one has a "Prerecord" button in its menu but doesn't appear to do anything as far as doing any prerecording.

We bought this system on 2/23/2019, a camera randomly quit working in June, 2019. Not sure why, never got a notification that it quit working. Yet when we unhook another camera we get notified. Can't seem to get a response from Swann. So I'm not really sure how impressed I am with these cameras.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

DVR instructions in box could be better

There are no instructions with the box for setting up the dvr recordings. It was necessary to go on to the Swann website to download adequate instructions.

We no longer include a physical manual with the Swann systems. These manuals would be available online through our support center. support.swann.com

installed the 4 channel version of this, in my friends parents property a year ago. Was so impressed with it, had to get the 8 channel for myself. The thermal sensing capabilities is what sold me on the system. I'm 1 happy camper.

Nice cameras, but no audio recording feature, and poorly designed software.

I bought this camera 2 weeks ago and installed it a week ago. The system package was good, with all necessary things included. The cameras are also good, however there is no audio recording. Somehow I missed to read this while ordering as I thought this feature of audio recording is mostly included. It would have been really good if it had this feature. However this does not compromise the security featuers.
Another thing I am unhappy about is the software, Homesafe View. Its not user friendly. I wish Swann did something about their softwares.
Apart from that, the installation was easy. The PIR sysyem works great.
There is a prerecord option in the software, but its useless, doesn't work. I think this is very important, and Swann should do something about this.
Another suggestion to Swann - please make both ends of the wires same, so that when we install it, it should not matter which way we put the wire. Curerntly the end that conencts camera and the end that connects base unit are different, and I got it wrong couple of times.
I would recommend this to a friend!
