18,000 BTU or 0 BTU, worthless

I love the look of this, but unfortunately I bought it before seeing the numerous reviews showing the poorly designed burners. We've been in the middle of a kitchen remodel for a few months and it finally got installed. I actually disconnected and reconnected it 3 times trying to figure out if I had restricted flow, but it's perfectly installed. The thing just has a poor design, between the grate height and poor adjustability of the burner. I wanted it in order to match the rest of the café appliances, but I should've just broken up the package to get a better quality rangetop.

Finesse and Brute Force--Capable of both

My builder installed this stove and I'm motivated to write this in order to provide my personal experience with the stove over the past 60 days. I was nervous about the stove due to the negative reviews here, but was quick to find out that perhaps the people writing negativity likely don't know how to use an advanced stovetop properly. I've cooked at a restaurant on a professional stove and know that this unit is exceptional. On the low setting, it has the finesse required to make the most delicate sauces and enough power on Lo to cook rice properly. Although you cannot SEE a huge difference on the flame from Lo to Hi, I guarantee you that you see the results in the pan. There is a definite difference in the heat provided on the numerical adjustment from Lo to Hi. I like to fry eggs on 8 initially and I drop the temp to 4 to cook them thru at the end. On the other end of the spectrum, power boil has enough brute force for the best sear or an acceptable output for quick boils. I've used the wok grate for my round bottom wok and not only does it cradle my wok perfectly, but there is enough heat output for an acceptable stir-fry. The only function that i wish this unit had was an inner burner like the viking or wolf models, but I didn't have the money for one of those models. I've successfully used a 8-inch skillet on Hi, so you don't need oversized pans. My advice is to think about the flexibility of this stovetop and understand that you can have finesse or you can go crazy hot if you need to. Bon Appetit!

I love this Cafe stove top. The ceramic is easy to clean. The grates flip over for different size pans, and there is ample space in between burners. Highly recommend.

Quality cooktop! Flames too large for some pots and pans, but the heat control is amazing.

Very disappointed

We purchased this cooktop when building our new house. My husband and I love to cook and loved the idea of having so much cook space and being able to put 6 pots/pans on at once. I was instantly concerned the first time I used the cooktop. The "powerboil" option is basically "hi" and "hi" is basically "low," anything below the "hi" setting is completely unusable to cook (not even to simmer). After using it for almost a month and reading some reviews I was convinced that there was a problem and that it could be adjusted, but the technician came and told me it is working perfectly! I'm not aware of any other GE models built like this, and my cabinets were built specifically for this model, so now I'm stuck with a ridiculously expensive cooktop that barely functions.

Tired of crowded cooktops. This is what I needed. Large pots and skillets at the same time. Good temp control.
