Trade sound volume for air removal... Your choice...

Recently installed this unit in our remodeled kitchen. While it's appearance was attractive, the noise was outrageous... when the factory engineers fitted a larger motor (for increased CFM) they were forced to install the intakes next to, as well as close to the front wall of the unit. This causes the unit to produce an excess of noise. The next smaller model, (PM390S) the motor is turned 90 degrees and where the intake is not restricted, and is much quieter.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Noisy at low fan speed

Very disappointed with the noise level at the low fan speed. Many exhaust fans will have noise ratings for each speed however this one does not. Given its performance, it's pretty clear why they did not publish the rating at lower speed. Very loud.

Loud clanging noise after 2 5 years& barely used

After 2 1/2 years of very minimal use all of.a sudden I turn it on & hear a huge clanging sound that I thought something fell out! Waited for a few days & turned on & same thing happened. Sad that things are made so poorly & the amount of money spent.

Buttons were missing, switch was broken and needed light fuse at installation so had to reorder all products. A headache from the start and we haven't even used it yet!

Lamp replacement

My Broan PM500 is less than 2 years old and I need to replace the lamp. The lamp does not simply screw nor pop out. You have to take apart the lamp to get to the bulb, and this is not intuitive. There is not documentation provided by Brian that shows the specific steps. Getting to the lamp requires removing a very thin piece of glass that is very fragile. Brian should redesign it.

Bought this a few weeks ago after our insert broke - discovered the builder used a custom company that went out of business so it was a challenge finding something that should work. Found this insert and the matching liner and both installed seamlessly! Looks and functions beautifully! Fan is a little loud, but it also has some great suction to remove smoke and steam. It's not unreasonable at all for a high powered vent.
I would recommend this to a friend!
