"Cafe" 36" Cooktop

I grew up with GE appliances' and the old Ronald Reagan ad "at GE progress is our most important product" on TV. This cooktop is FANTASTIC! The design, materials used, workmanship, and operational performance have been "perfect" since it was installed just days ago. Thank you GE you folks "still got it"!!

Knobs are cheap

I was very excited to see the GE Cafe cooktop in my our home that we purchased in 2018 because I have used GE appliances for years. However, I noticed the knobs were scratched so the builder replaced them. You keep giving people advice on how to clean them. Cleaning is not the issue! It is nearly impossible not to touch the knobs with pans that you are removing from the cooktop (center). To raise them up high enough off the center burner not to touch the knobs in nearly impossible for someone who is shorter and/or older without creating a safety hazard! The knobs on my stove scratched and started peeling almost immediately no matter how careful I was!! The stainless steel surface also scratches easily from the light shifting of the cast iron grids. I have been watching the price of the knobs for SEVEN years waiting for it to go down so I can replace them with true GE products. The price is ridiculous! I have the same issue with the drip tray in my GE Profile refrigerator! Rather than just selling the tray top that is bound to get calcium marks no matter how clean you keep it, you have to buy the entire tray at an outrageous price! FYI...I sanded mine down and painted it rather than be ripped off by GE. I have had GE appliances for years, but the cost of maintaining them in like new condition has become ridiculous! If anyone on this thread has purchased a stainless (not cheap plastic) substitute that has worked for them, would appreciate a link!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor knob design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Knobs are setup too high so any thing hot placed on the stove top near the knobs (eg, baking sheet from the oven) melts the knobs. The burners are effective all though it would be nice to adjust the burner down lower as it is sometimes too hot.
