Poor workmanship or cheap materials for knobs +

While I love the way the cook-top cooks, the knobs keep melting and the silver scratching off. See the pictures. The cook top is six months old. I replaced one knob in December. By January the new one had melted. It makes the cook top look old and cheap! I addition the black is fading on the gas cover (3rd picture). I'm concerned this product is made of substandard materials.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased four GE Cafe appliances for the remodel of my kitchen. After only five months of using the Cafe Gas Cooktop, the paint is coming off the label on the right back burner (left back burner if facing, see photos). Be assured that I have never used any type of abrasive cleaner or abrasive scrubber to clean the cooktop but only a soft cloth or sponge and a mild cleaner. It seems reasonable to assume that the paint on the unit should not be peeling off after only five months of use and it is most unfortunate that I am now unable to accurately read the level in which the back right burner is set! Plus, now the cooktop now looks much older than it is. Also, the plastic button that covers the gas "locked" feature on the cooktop keeps popping off, GE sent a replacement but the button doesn't properly lock onto the unit which potentially leaves the opening that houses the light uncovered.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

5 burner cooktop

One issue I have with it is the burners knobs are so close to the grills even with a medium size pots it hard to access the knobs as they sit or cover them.

The griddle is makes cooking fun again, and the child safety gas shut off feature makes cooking less worrisome.

Not very happy scratches easily ! Looks good but the grates are too heavy and do not clean very well in the dishwasher
