This is a decent product for the money, it has nice eye appeal and looks nice on a countertop. However, I have had many snow cones in my life and most of the have consisted of small pieces of ice, many just like shaved ice. The ice this unit makes is larger pieces and at times hard to chew on. It basically produces a low end type of ice, not the same as other machines, but again it does not have the price of those machines.

This ice shaver looks pretty in red. Brings out the "happy" in any celebration or get together. The machine is easy to operate. When you feed the ice, a gentle push will activate the machine. It has a safety feature that when you open the ice feeder, machine automatically stops even when switch is turned on. It has a big shaved ice reservoir so you don't have to frequently open and empty it. It's a time saver. There are also 4 cone cup holders on both sides. Pretty handy. Ice scoop is round shaped to give the treat top a nice dome shape. It produces a nice, fine shaved ice, perfect for snow cone or Halo-halo snack! Noise can get as loud as you would expect solid ice to bang against plastic container. Price is affordable and reasonable. Hope this machine lasts.

I bought this item to replace an old Oster ice crusher which after 40 years finally broke. I love to eat ice. A few years ago I was going thru a lot of issues with my teeth due to the older I got (63) the more fragile my teeth got. My dentist suggested that I either stop crunching ice (which was not an option, due to how much I love eating it) or crush it so that was my gentle on my teeth). I took his suggestion and resolved the issue with getting my teeth cracked from this habit I have. When my old ice crusher broke I was devastated because they no longer make the Oster Ice Crusher. I searched and found this Cuisinart Snow Cone Maker and I ordered it. After using it, I love it more than the Oster Ice crusher that I had. If this machine lasts as long as my old one, then I am sure it will outlive me. I am sold on this machine and may just purchase a second one to have a backup in case the one I have dies before me. I recommend this machine 100%!
