First Induction Range

I was really pumped to get an induction range. Being a tech-geek, this really appealed to me.I was prepared for new cookware, BUT not the adjustment phase. It cooks totally different than a normal range. The "burners" don't appear to be on a linear scale. Meaning, cooking at 3 is much cooler than 4 or 5. Once you get over that, it worked well. The other odd thing is that the control panel is on the stove top. So both the large burners are at the back. Which is okay for me, being tall with long arms. But I know my wife took some getting used to on this. The being able to boil water in literally 1 or 2 minutes is as nice as advertised.'The oven is fantastic. The convention works work, we can cook 3 racks of cookies no problem. Does take quite a while to preheat, even on the rapid setting. Unfortunate, but you can plan accordingly. All in all, quite pleased with this. Took some getting used to, but we cook faster and better than before.
Crumbs get around the edges of the top and the top doesn't clean up very well even with the supplied cleaner. If you clean too much it leaves marks in top.
After 28 years, we upgraded our appliances. We bought the stove at the lower end of the price range, so maybe that's the problem. I love the oven! It's spacious; heats up quickly; cooks evenly and performs perfectly. However, when it comes to the top cooking surface, it's awful! It's hard to regulate the heat and it tends to get too hot too quickly and doesn't cool down very fast. And it's almost impossible to clean. No matter what cleaner we use on it, it takes forever to get the streaks off and leave the surface shiny. The very first time we used the cook top, it left a small mark that won't come out. We would have preferred to have gas, but there is no gas available here unless we replumb and install a propane tank. Looks like we are stuck! The other complaint I have is that the drawer under the oven is pretty flimsy. It feels as though it could be bent if I shut it the wrong way. It's so flimsy that I am actually storing my plastic ware there and not anything heavy like a pot or pan. If I had it to do over, I would NOT buy this stove.
I really like my new stove but my only complaint is the clock on it is way too bright for us and we have to cover it every night because it lights up the house too much.
