Fun to have a modern microwave

After nearly 33 years of use, our ~900 watt (total power consumption) Quasar microwave finally bit the dust. While shopping I encountered many sad tales of modern ones not lasting for more than a few years. If this is often true, it’s tragic and should be prohibited (making such things and not having them last). This machine heats at about 140% of the rate of our prior machine. The nominal wattage suggested it might heat about 120% of the old rate. It’s modern features are many, including having a turntable (been around a long time now but the reliable Quasar didn’t have it), and having lots of nice electronic control features. The only thing that I so far don’t like very much, after using it for eight months, is that it’s quite hard to see the labels of the controls on the electronic touch pad. It’s especially difficult to read from, say, a yard away at a 50 degree angle off axis. All of the lettering is approximately a middle to medium-light gray, I suspect in a effort to make it look cool. Bright white lettering might be too bright for looking good, but I’d make the lettering lighter. If it lasts for decades as GE kitchen appliances traditionally have, I’ll be happy.

Still Figuring it out.!

I am still trying to get use to this new GE Microwave. My previous microwave was a 1100wt......and still trying to understand the various features of this one. I did go onto the internet and searched for a conversion chart for wattage change from 1100 to 900. It would be helpful if you would in the future provide a similar chart for buyers switching from 1100 wt to 900 wt. Other than that....all is OK

It does function as a microwave. Turntable is jerky, door closure is loud, color of interior light has unpleasant blue cast. Nobody tried to raise the bar on this product design team, and it shows.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great compact Microwave!

This is the second GE Microwave that I've owned. My last microwave was a caloric that only lasted 4 years and wasn't powerful -- took forever to warm up food. I love this GE Microwave! It is small, efficient and warms up my food quickly. Love the "add 30 seconds" button, especially to reheat my coffee cup. You can't go wrong with this Microwave. Don't hesitate to purchase it!

Great compact size and look are wonderful and came packaged very well not to get damaged. I'm over 65 and the touchpad was a little sticky and had to press it repeatedly to work and when you open the door the timing instructions on top were hard to read because of the small size. I do think the oven is well worth the money when all is done
