Doesn't charge laptop when connected

I purchased this not realizing that the port does not charge the laptop when connect which I think defeats the purpose of purchasing a port. I rarely use it. I do like the extra ports that come with a docking station.

The idea of the lock is great, but when not locked pulling the key out also causes the lock to come out with it! Is it normal, or should it be replaced?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm sure the docking station would work fine for the correct laptop BUT Lenovo support suggested I purchase this... Boy were they wrong. But they usually are!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This docking station has withstood the test of time and the mechanism and the ease of docking and undocking is still excellent. The number of ports is great, but there is only one USB-C port (the power comes through a different port) if the trend continues to abandon USB-A then this would eventually necessitate a separate hub. And while there are two monitor outputs, they are both DisplayPort 1.4. My experience would have suggested HDMI is more practical (that is, for example, the only port they chose to put on my newish ThinkPad). This is easily dealt with but for many it will probably require changing cables. One of each could have been a compromise.
