Doesn't charge laptop when connected

I purchased this not realizing that the port does not charge the laptop when connect which I think defeats the purpose of purchasing a port. I rarely use it.
I do like the extra ports that come with a docking station.

It’s a great dock . I would’ve liked an HDMI slot in the back . The locking mechanism was new as I was used to an eject style. But great product.
