Life saver and marriage saver

Living in the mountains, one is often away from cell service, whether it is a bike ride, hike, backcountry skiing, or pretty much any outdoor sport. The Mini keeps you connected, is tiny, and the phone app is super intuitive. While one hopes to never deploy the SOS mode, the ability to communicate if plans change, if one is running late, etc., has saved me from many otherwise unhappy situations.

This little unit has come in handy multiple times while guiding snowmobile tours and hunting trips. I love the app, very user friendly.

This is such a simple device and when paired with your phone it provides quick and reliable 2 way communications. It is nice to have good 2 way communications from the field finally. I have got to be point that I keep it with me most all of the time.

I don't go into the backcountry without it.

With how small this inReach is, it take it with me every time I am in the backcountry. Biking, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, backcountry skiing, etc. Since having it, I can't believe I ever traveled in the backcountry without it. The peace of mind of the SOS button or simply letting your family know you're going to be a few hours late is worth it's weight in gold. Personally, I only use this inReach for the communication element since I use Gaia for my maps. You always bring your phone with you! Why wouldn't you bring this little guy as well. It can get you out of some sticky situations. It's so easy to use the app on your phone - it's just like texting someone normally. Highly recommend for anyone who spends time in the backcountry.

Hunt safely and keep family from worrying

Used the mini on a backcountry elk hunt this year to give updates to family back home when out of cell service. Worked great. Easy to use with the smartphone app to compose and send text messages. Hardly knew it was there on my pack. Plans are very reasonable for year round use and the ability to bump up to an unlimited plan for heavy usage is great.

I used this devise as an emergency contact for when I needed to stay out in the field for work but was expecting a baby any time. It allowed me to confidently practice my craft while knowing I wouldn't miss the birth of my daughter!

Solid unit. I like the size.

I like the unit and I always keep it in my pack. Just plan on using it with your smart phone. Its not great as a standalone gps device but I think it was made to use with a smartphone. When using the garmin software on your phone the texting takes time but it is great to have a form of connection in emergency. The tracking is nice, My wife can track where I am at without having to send messages. As for the gps map side of it my phone with various phone apps is better. I download the maps on my phone and use that for all the tracking and waypoints. The gps on my phone picks up my location much faster than this unit. With all that being said I like the peace of mind that this offers. I can text if need be, I can send the SOS if I get hurt, and I can be tracked by whoever I give the link to. For those last 3 features, the unit is great and I will always have the unit with me when I head to the hills.
