Its so small!

I've been using satellite messengers for many years. I upgraded to InReach when it first came out because of the two way communications capability. The InReach device and Earthmate Smartphone App just keep getting better. The Mini does everything I need and its so small. Best InReach ever, when you know you'll carry your phone. (who doesn't carry a phone?) Please integrate the Mini with the Garmin Edge cycling computers.
I purchased for my son to go on a long distance horseback ride. Having difficulty keeping the unit to stay on consistently. Shuts off randomly and won’t come back on for an hour or so. Not reliable. Planning to return it.

In my younger days cell phones didn't exist. I hiked, fished and hunted off trail with only a map and compass. They saved me from being lost more than once. The missing piece was being able to let others know that I was O.K. or on the way home. The inReach Mini meets these needs perfectly. Hopefully, I will never need the S.O.S feature, but having it, is fantastic. It's certainly worth the subscription costs to me.
Out of the box the firmware was outdated. Even after firmware update not all test messages were received. Still trying to figure it out without getting nailed on text costs while still at the house

I love my inreach mini, however, there was not a lanyard in the box. Bummer. I do hiking and ATV riding & it gives my wife peace of mind to know where I am & that things are OK. Hope I never have to use the SOS feature.
The Garmin inReach Mini is perfect for daily life, hiking, boating, and, more recently, deployments. I have used this awesome little product daily since I got it a little over a week ago and it has been flawless. Set up was a bit tricky as it needs a clear path to get signal but other than that it is strait forward. Using the downloadable manual that can be found online I was able to multi task and link the Mini to my Fenix 5x Plus and iPhone X in little over 5-6 minutes with no hassle. I have used this product to send texts to friends in the United States with only a 5-10 delay from sending the text to receiving a response back. Tracking and setting waypoints is easier on the Mini than on my iPhone and my Garmin eTrex. Overall I rate this product a 9/10. The only reason I am not rating this product a 10/10 is because nothing is perfect and Garmin always outdoes itself so its never a total 10. Haha!
I have thoroughly tested this unit and it flawlessly does everything it is supposed to. Make sure you understand exactly what this unit is and is not before you buy it and you will not be dissappointed.
