Never had so much trouble activating a device. Too many problems to list here. Took me several hours to get it all sorted out.

Thank you for your review and your experience with the inReach Mini. We would like to discuss this further over email. If you could please email us at product.support@garmin.com. Thanks Jenny
Just went on a 2 day trip to Smoky Mountains National Park. It was raining and very overcast the entire time. It got great GPS coverage and sent messages in short order, receiving responses quickly too. I left on for 1 full day and got a message that it only had 35% battery left, seems somewhat short. Can be avoided by turning off when it's not needed. I paired with my Garmin Forerunner and could send and receive messages from my watch, but the inReach app on my watch caused my watch to freeze a few times and it didn't pair the 2nd day of my trip. No worries though as I could still use my phone to send and receive messages thru the inReach and could also send/receive messages through the actual inReach itself. Build quality seems fantastic. Garmin, please work on pairing and freezing issues within the inReach app on the watches.
I do a lot of very remote volunteer wildlife habitat conservation work in wilderness and this unit provides me with a much needed communication tool for those remote areas in case something develops.
I bought this Midsummer for hang gliding and paragliding, It works flawlessly. Very easy to use. It's great to be able to communicate with loved ones and let them know that I have landed safe or that I need help getting back home. Makes flying that much more enjoyable.
In all my flying I haven't seen any missing track points. It's also great peace of mind to get confirmation that the message is sent. Something that always concerned me with my previous device, I never knew if the message actually sent or not. Having two way communication is invaluable.

It’s the right size and has all the right features - if the UX/UI was more modern it would be easier to use. Also, if the app worked with Apple Watch that would be cool too. Right now it’s probably the best version of this type of device that’s available despite those things.
