This device gives my wife so much peace of mind while I'm out on the trail. We're able to easily communicate so she knows where I'm at and how I'm doing. There's certainly a learning curve to devices like this if you're brand new to them, but everyone should take something with an SOS button with them when they travel deep in the backcountry. This one's nice because it's so small and lightweight. Remembering to reactivate your subscription is the only big bummer if you're not out exploring at least every month.

Device links to your phone and super easy to use. It's small and doesn't take up any space. One of these type devices is critical to being rescued alive in a bad situation.

One of the best emergency communicators
on November 16, 2023

Out of all the emergency communicators available, the garmin inreach family is quite simply the best. Within that family, the inreach mini and newer mini 2 are the best lightweight options that exist. the device is lightweight, small, has multiple attachment options, and is very durable. The programs for updates and syncing are relatively lightweight while still being feature rich, allowing for surface level operation or advanced use. The device has good tracking and communication abilities with its limited control surfaces as well.

Elk Hunters Lifeline
on November 10, 2023
Posted by: Keith N
The Garmin inReach Mini proved itself as an invaluable companion during my recent elk hunt high in the Rockies above 12,000 ft. Here's how it fared in the wild:
Pros: -Portability in the Wilderness: The inReach Mini's compact design was a game-changer during the trek through challenging terrains. It seamlessly fit into my gear without adding bulk.
-Critical Communication: Communicating with my hunting party and loved ones was seamless, even in the remote elk country where cell signals fade away. The two-way messaging feature offered a lifeline to loved ones back home.
-SOS Button for Peace of Mind: Knowing that I had a direct line to emergency services with the touch of a button provided a level of security that's priceless when navigating unfamiliar, rugged landscapes.
-Offline Maps for Precision: The ability to download detailed maps proved crucial when tracking elk in areas with no cell coverage. It significantly enhanced my navigation capabilities, helping me stay on course.
Cons: -None that I experienced in my usage so far. It has stood up to my needs and expectations.
Conclusion: For anyone stepping off on an elk hunt in the mountains, the Garmin inReach Mini is more than a gadget - it's a reliable lifeline. Its portability, communication capabilities, and safety features make it an essential tool for those seeking adventure in the wild. Highly recommended for elk hunters looking to stay connected and secure in the vast expanses of the mountains.

Trusty Companion

Ive taken my Garmin on all my big trips into the mountains. The number one thing for me is peace of mind. Knowing I can get help whenever, is a big thing for me and my family. I also like that I can access topo maps offline while I'm using this device, as well as send messages to my family if need be. Ive actually used both of those features a number of times. My family also appreciates that they can track me while I'm going for an objective or just going on a simple backpacking trip. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who goes on bigger trips, or who does any sort of dangerous activity in the mountains.

I bought this Garmin product in 2019. I've taken it with me on all my mountain biking, hiking and travel trips. It gives you peace of mind that if you should get into a most crucial predicament, that you have a great chance of staying alive or receiving emergency services in a timely manner.

ABSOLUTLY RELIABLE
on September 2, 2023

When planning a hiking adventure in remote areas, communication and navigation are at the top of the checklist for safety. Conventional smartphones might serve you well in urban jungles, but when you venture out into real forests or mountains where signal is a rare commodity, a specialized device is essential. That's where the Garmin inReach comes into play, serving as a reliable communication and navigation tool that has become indispensable during my hiking trips. The areas I usually hike in are known for zero cell phone reception. The Garmin inReach makes it possible to send and receive messages, share my exact location, and even send an SOS in case of emergencies. All these features give not only me but also my family and friends peace of mind, knowing that I'm always just a message away.
