I am impressed with this messenger, there were a few times in dense PA woods in a deep ravine during the winter that the message didn't successfully send until later but if I were really concerned I would have went to a better vantage. Overall the functionality with a my cell phone required a little to fully understand the quirks but one trip is all it took. Test it a bit around home first and you'll be happy with it.
Amazing product. Takes a little familiarization but once you use it, you’ll be thankful you purchased it. Now loved ones can track and communicate with you no matter where you are especially in non cell coverage areas.

This product is awesome, light weight, and allows for a safety margin and convenience out in the mountains or even if you're just out of cellphone range adventuring. Highly recommend.
I have owned a GPS's since the early 80's and the off road software and setup for the InReach Mini is the most difficult I have ever came across. The Garmin support videos were not that much help either.

I'm 73 years old and not very educated in GPS navigating etc. I'm comparing the Inreach Mini and the in reach Explore . I want a GPS unit with satellite capacity. Mini has smaller screen, not so clear menu, so for this person, the Explorer is much more user friendly, and if I ever need an SOS, much easier to operate. Both have easy access button, but messaging much better with Explorer. Jim

This is a must have for any and all that go into the disconnected wilderness. While I've only had it for a month or so, I've been putting it through its paces in testing the connection, battery, and ease of use before a big summer of epics (hopefully). It works every time and seems to be the real deal. Very impressed thus far. Will update my review if I ever come across any issues but... so far, so good!
I chose to get the inReach Mini because I already have the Garmin GPSMap 66S with Birdseye imagery and have no need for the higher end mapping capable inReach models. It takes a while to send and receive messages, and so far only once has my wife NOT received my messages. I would do a 4.5 star review but couldn’t, just because of the mishap texts. But I do LOVE using the Earthmate app for everything. So much better than tapping and tapping buttons to get one letter. it’s such a convenience to use what your normally used to (your own personal phone) to do the texting, configurations, and just about everything else. Oh! I also have been able to use my GPSMap 66S with the mini with the ANT+ feature. LOVING it so far
