Great but hard to learn

I have only had my mini for < a week but it does perform as expected. I have owned Garmin gps since the first summit with no maps, black and white screen. Garmin has too many apps (ie: express; mapinstall; webupdater; basecamp;map manager; inreach sync) for different functions. I would like to see one app that takes care of all the functions of the gps.

We bought a pair of these to use for an off grid side by side ride for the group on the trail to communicate with the support vehicles. They worked great, especially when paired with a phone to text. We didn't really use all the features this trip so looking forward to using these more in the future.

I’m in the process of creating a hiking guidebook in Alaska. The Garmin Mini has been a great tool for helping me track my hikes in the backcountry, providing service for days between charges, and for pinpoint waypoint accuracy.

Able to give my family leave of mind when I hike. Still working out what I can do and can’t do with subscriptions and tasks and costs. haven't really used it backpacking and overnighting just yet.

We have always enjoyed the quality functionally of Garmin equipment. We purchased a We purchased new Pursuit and the marine carrier required a satellite based security device to monitor the boat's location 24/7. Though, the Garmin was satellite based and could be setup to report location regularly, it was not an approved device. We had to return the Garmin and purchase a SPOT-Trace.

Thank you for your review and your experience with the inReach Mini. We would like to discuss this further over email. If you would please email us at product.support@garmin.com. Thanks Jenny
This is a great device. The devise itself is very user friendly. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the activation was a pain. I had to use 3 different apps/programs and contact support to finally get the activation to complete.

Only had the inReach mini for a couple weeks. It took a while for it to finally “Authenticate” the device, but it finally did. Have sent and received a few test messages and they went through fine. Got the inReach specifically for our camping trips in the motor home in case of a break down when there’s no cell service. Also, when we’re hiking. Hope we never need it but it’s comforting knowing we can call for help.
