Love it so far!

My recreation activities in the backcountry areas of Montana have always been a double edged sword…..I love the large areas of cellular dead zones in my home state, but not having contact with my family for days on end is unfair to them.
Now, having the InReach Mini, I can send texts to my wife and friends, and if I need to, send an emergency SOS in the event I am hurt or lost.
Bluetooth connectivity with my phone has been awesome, and I can carry a charging cord to plug in to my portable battery charger.

Not very impressed. Would not recommend at this point. Had a very hard time setting it up. Signal was debatable, texts didn't go thru. Directions with it could be better.

I am not your typical gear head and gadget person, but this little device is incredible. I do a lot of backpacking and thru hikes on my own, plus snow shoeing and mountaineering. Having the Garmin Mini gives me so much more peace of mind. It lets my friends and family track my hikes and I can text them updates along the way. I don't know how I lived this long without it! Every serious hiker should have one of these.

Quite simply - this brings my wife peace of mind while I'm out solo. Worth every penny just for keeping in touch with the home front.

Better than SPOT

I have been using SPOT for 12 years. Upgraded to SPOT X (from Gen 3). Found it hard to use. I also wanted two-way communications. inReach is working well for me. Highly Recommended.

My go-to navigation and communication device when I go off the grid. Whether it be mountaineering, snowmobiling, backcountry skiing or mountain biking, my inReach Mini is always with me and has provided 100% reliable navigation and text communication. I have only needed it to provide an updated timeline to friend/ family when my adventure plan changes but it is nice to know that in an emergency I am only a button push away from contacting the needed services in an emergency.
