Peace of Mind

I bought this not too long ago with the idea of boating off shore. I've used it 40+ miles off shore and gives me and my family peace of mind that I can give them near exact GPS coordinates as well as preset messages stating that I'm ok. I use this product along with a Personal Locator Beacon and my on water towing services.

I’ve had this forever. Never been able to connect. Just got the charging and powering on issue fixed. Now it won’t find satellites to connect. Disappointed. Especially since I have 8 garmin devices.

Reliable device and must for remote hiking

I have used the In Reach in a professional settings during natural disasters as well as off shore patrols. The reliability of satellite messaging, tracking and weather in remote locations is literally a life saver. I recently bought a personal unit for hiking in remote areas and needed a reliable and trusted method to communicate with family and first responders if needed. Recently went on a hike to the Guadalupe mountains and it worked flawlessly. In addition the ability to choose different subscriptions if also a great feature and another reason I chose this device. Overall Garmin has always made reliable products. In the end the InReach mini is a must for hiking in remote locations and I wouldn’t go in the back country without it.

It's horrible

Messages are not being pushed to my phone via Bluetooth. Only sometimes. I've got 4 "unread" messages on the Inreach, but I can't find them or mark existing as read. I'm sailing alone 100-200 miles offshore and deserve better!!!

Very useful and essential bit of kit

Garmin’s inReach devices are literally life savers. In our job of conservation and protected area management, our teams are most often very remote and out of reach. It is comforting to know they are inReach with their inReach device.

Great idea but awful menu and the flow of screens

I recently bought the device because I ride backwards and a lot of solo trips and really want to have a small SOS Beacon that I could carry but I have to be honest and tell everyone that the menu system and the ease of use of this device is among the worst I've used in the last 20 years. It doesn't flow well it doesn't it doesn't make a whole lot of sense and there's 2 and there's too much stuff you don't need and none of the things that would be really helpful.

Peace of mind

The device itself works as it should for what I’ve tried so far. I really only use it to communicate check-ins while I’m on my motocamping trips. I’m not happy with syncing, though. I can’t seem to get my syncing to work on my Mac (dongles on dongles, and I think the problems might be the dongles). The Mac can never recognize the Garmin. I just use other people’s PCs, but the last time I did it, it apparently didn’t sync like it was supposed to.
Once it’s all synced it works pretty well. It keeps my family from worrying about me, and I can feel more confident about riding on the backroads and camping by myself.
