Pretty dissapointed

Right off the bat it was too cold from the ups truck to boot up! Had to warm it up to get it to charge. Tested the text feature at home to make sure it worked before I hit the backcountry and it worked but was annoying. When I was in the backcountry I tested a text again and It never went through, also didn't tell me for a day and half. Hope the SOS feature is more reliable. Its possible I am doing something wrong but I'm fairly competent when it comes to technology and it should be easier to use.

Too Complicated

The unit and app are too complicated. Not user friendly at all. Even the simple things are hard. I just want to send/receive texts and be able to send links to folks so they can follow me. It is confusing even after reading instructions and watching YouTube videos.

Inreach interface not at all user-friendly

This device is not user friendly. The SOS feature makes the device worth the cost, but I fear that I will freeze to death on a summit trying to send a preset message. And why are the presets ( the most important ones) harder to find on the display than the quick text messages? When I send a preset message from the inreach it can take up to 24 hours for the message to be received.

Better Than Expected

I received the Garmin InReach about 30 days ago. I had little problem setting up the system and linking to my Smart phone, as well as understanding how to send my trip locations via text or email. What impresses me is the size of the unit and the power it provides to stay in contact as well as having emergency location features. I was so impressed I bought two others from family and friend.

Too confusing, too many steps to start

Download this, and that and hopefully they paid up wirh your phone and gps. And expensive once you ourchase it and then have to sign a contract for service. Hopefully it works if I ever have to use it and I hope it’s worth it. I think carrying a messenger pigeon would be easier and hundreds and hundreds of dollars cheaper haha

Great Gps

I sent 3 messages and the messages went great. However, the “location” was not included. Am sure I am doing something wrong. Just need to find out what?

Used it once on a XCS trip with my 9 y. o., bought the flex plan, and sent pre-set texts along our route and family enjoyed the messages as well as I was able to go back and see way points. Overall good device, gives some piece of mind when in the wilderness solo, or with family or little ones to have the SOS button on hand.
