Good & Useful

I've had the device for about a month. I see great utility beyond the SOS feature, but the learning curve is more than I expected. I am getting the hang of it and expect after an upcoming hiking trip the rating will improve. Support has been excellent in assisting me.

Useful, but not always timely

This device and it’s connectivity does allow for communication, but, not necessarily in an immediate fashion. Two devices (two owners) side by side using these had a large variance in delay of messaging. SOS function was not required on our trip.

Love this InReach Mini

Each summer and fall I spend a decent amount of time in the back country. Until now I have not been able to communicate with my loved ones who are at home and those who are in the hills with me. The Garmin inReach has been a game changer for us and only wish I would have purchased this several years ago. This little device gives my wife peace of mind knowing she can get ahold of me and that I have a way to communicate if anything goes wrong in the back country.

Best piece of equipment for backcountry!

Debated Sat phone vs InReach. Was leaning toward Sat phone. I was skeptical of relying on 3rd party as intermediary in event of emergency. Garmin bought 3rd party earlier this year. In July I had to use InReach SOS for evac on John Muir Trail for broken bone in foot. Could not be more pleased! Communication was perfect! Exceeding expectations! I was evaced by helicopter via California Highway Patrol with in 2 hours. Garmin kept everyone updated throughout. CHP officers acknowledged Garmin is extremely helpful to them as well.

All you need to have in satellite communicator

Wide satellite network, bluetooth connection to your phone for text, in-device texting capability, good battery life (3-7 days depending on how frequently you use tracking function), excellent price-to-value (both services and device)

I've had to find people who have used this product and Garmin has never failed to give the exact location of someone.

Light and perfect for my needs.

I was deciding between Garmin InReach Mini and Exprorer. In the end my choice was Mini, as anyway I take a cell phone with me which, efficiently, turns Mini into explorer. Plus Mini is more than 100 grams lighter. For now I am satisfied, tried it in few runs in the mountains. Don't exect it to be as responsive as usual cell hone messaging and you will not be dissapointed.
