Easy to use !

Just activated my InReach & Used for the first tine in remote mountains of Alberta a few weeks ago and now in the Arctic on Polar Bear Hunt .. it has worked perfectly to allow me to keep in touch with family and business associates.

Great device

I bought the inReach because I am alone on the water frequently. I have only used it to send a test message, and it worked. I do frequently get an messages about lack of service however it was searching for satellites the time I tested it and it still worked.

First test in field on Mt Tecumseh

I planned on buying this after I broke my ankle & had to be rescued in 2015. I like the feature that allows one to send a text to my wife & kids anytime and not worrying about cell service.

Instructions need improvement

I had a chance to use my new Mini recently while a friend carried his on a sheep hunt in a remote region of Mexico. It took FOREVER for me to get mine set up and connected to him. Garmin has two phone apps (Earthmate and Explorer) and the interaction of the two is unclear. Further, specifying a friend to communicate with was very difficult to figure out. Garmin needs to rework and simplify all of the setup procedure!!
Once we got the connection established, the Mini worked beautifully. I enjoyed following his hunt by using his GPS coordinates, provided with each text he sent, to locate him on Google Earth Pro, where I could see a lot of details about the terrain.

Garmin InReach Mini

The Garmin in reach mini what is a game changer. It was awesome to have a form of communication with friends and family members while on our overland trip. They knew where we were at all times and I always felt like I had a safety net if needed.

Provided peace of mind while hiking

The dog and I regularly take day hikes in hills without cell phone coverage. This used to worry my wife. The amazingly small Inreach mini allows her to see where we are and know we are OK (or can request help, if needed).
