I mainly use my InReach mini with my Overlander, and it makes it very simple to use, the Overlander app does not allow you to use all the various categories of messages aa was defined on the Inreach mini

This was given to me by a family member and I have used it for the last couple years and really like having the app on my phone to send messages. I feel more confident in the woods knowing I can contact someone if I need to.

It's a cool little device. I used it for the first time last weekend and it worked as I expected. I purchased this for my wife who is an avid hiker without the same sense of direction and time. Being lost a few times at the end of the day worried her a bit so I got this to make sure would have a good way of getting out of a tight situation or rescued if something went really wrong. I am much more comfortable knowing she can get the help she needs if she needs it and she can share her progress on her hikes with others. Even outside of all cell phone coverage which is often problematic around here.

I had wanted an inreach for years, and this year my husband purchased one for me for Christmas. We have started pushing the envelope a bit on our ski missions, and I spend hundreds of miles a year running long distances far from cell coverage. Having some sort of safety net is a relief; we have already tested the test message feature to communicate with a parent while delayed on a ski trip, and all worked so well. Hopefully, we never have to use the SOS feature, but it is good to know its there just in case. This will always go with me on backcountry missions from here on out. I could not recommend enough.

Amazing, affordable service. My wife is able to communicate with me while out in the wilds of Alaska and it gives me peace of mind knowing my wife can tell me if there is an issue at the office and I need to come back.
A good product but the InReach fees are excessive for the occasional off the grid explorer. Fees are ok if you live in a tent, in the middle of desert and have a habit of getting lost. And that no matter what the annual fee (!) is just a real gut punch, shameful.
