Hard to get a signal

Over all I'm glad I have it, But sometimes it was extremly hard to get a signal to send and recieve messages. I was in the back country with trees but the trails gave me a clear view of the sky. I would hate be in trouble and not able to move and have no service for help.

Great device, horrible user interface

Have had the mini for a month now, and it now works as advertised,. The setup was a fiasco, having to access multiple sites for the setup is challenging. It seems as though the setup process has been cobbled together over many years and needs to be redesigned from the ground up. Thanks to technical support for getting me through.

Fulfills my basic need

Almost never relays my texts to my phone so I have to read my texts on the inreach mini which is not ideal. I am able to write and send texts on my phone through the app. Sometimes messages are delayed but I expect it.

Great tool but slow response times

I've used the garmin inreach mini for my Antelope hunt and Elk hunt. It took a bit to learn the features but once they were learned it was easy to navigate. The only thing I do not like is the communication link. I have had numerous messages sent that would take more than a hour to send. Same with my buddies inreach mini. He would send me a text and sometimes it would take a hr to send. Others might be a minimum of of minutes. I personally will be looking for a different service when my contract runs out. It's very frustrating when in the mountains if one of us needs help and you have to wait possibly a hr to get a message to one another then wait to another hour to meet up. A lot of wasted time working about, did my message go thru. All the other features are great.

Love My InReach Mini

Bought it to take on backcountry Elk hunt. I will never be caught hunting in the backcountry or fishing offshore where there is no cell service without now.

Peace of mind

I recently used this for 2 weeks while elk hunting while in and out of cell service. It is pretty easy to set up and get started using.
The unit itself is kind of difficult to send customized messages on as you have to scroll through the alphabet for each letter, but it’s just as easy as you’d think while using the Earthmate app to send messages. Using the preset messages is very easy and although it didn’t sync correctly with my customized presets, the stock messages were just fine.
The battery life isn’t bad, probably 2 full days if not using the unit itself to send messages.

It does like to be in full view of the sky, so if you’re in heavy cover such as trees or if it is covered up by something on your pack, it may not work.
Overall, very pleased with it and it’s ability to keep me in touch while I’m adventuring.

Not working properly

It does not deliver messages even if I don't have anything around me on top of the mountain. Sometimes I see them delivered but after 10 minutes or so.
