Great fetchers and it works

I got it a month ago. Haven’t got to use it much. Will use it when deer season comes in. I hunt in WV in mountains with no cell services. Got it for peace of mind and keep in contact with family.

I purchased this finally this year so my family could track my progress through my weeklong, solo backpacking trip. They enjoyed the ability to follow my progress. And I had piece of mind knowing I could send messages if so inclined and summon help if I got caught up in an area affected by an active wildfire. I bought my son the same unit last year so he could get help in an emergency - he lives in rural Alaska and he and his wife spend a lot of time in the outdoors. I got a message from him yesterday as he started an 8 day trip.
The unit is lightweight and small. Great purchase!

must have for offshore fishing

This thing is great. Such a cool piece of technology. Little bit of a learning curve as far as all of the lingo and technology goes, but spend an afternoon learning it and you’ll be glad you did. I feel much better about taking very remote fishing trips now.

So thankful I had this device

Had a mixup with vehicle shuttle service. Finished 7 day backpack and no car at trailhead and 20 miles from cell service. Saved by the texting feature. I was able to text my wife who contacted shuttle service who sent someone up to get me.

Good for my Needs

Overall happy. I carry for emergency use. Would like to do some texting but Garmin's plans are some of there most expensive if you don't want unlimited. Test the service as early as you can, as it often takes up to 30min to confirm. I assume that emergency use is not so slow.

Are unit may work great if you were able to download all the updates and several software packages to make it work with your iPhone. Don’t buy this off the shelf and expect it to work without a couple hours worth of effort on the computer.

Good hiking resource

Recently purchased for hiking in the White Mountains. Easy to use. Provides great map backup. Great security in case an emergency is encountered.
