I bought this because I work in the woods by myself and I rarely have cell service. With the inreach I can communicate with whoever I need, or just text my wife during the day. And if there’s ever an emergency I can get ahold of whoever I need. It works great! I just text from my phone and within a minute or 2 it goes through. I don’t leave home without it.

Easy to link up. Subscription is more flexible and less than the competition. Good to have the peace of mind that I could stay connected to family back home while I was off the grid.

I’m traveling around the world on my BMW R1250 GSA adventure bike. In Ecuador, my back end slid out underneath me on a dirt road. I landed on my left side, right where my Garmin InReach Mini was stored the one and only time I had placed it there! The Mini came out with just a few scratches and works like a champ! This is an absolutely superior product. It is with every Penney you’ll spend, both for its life-saving technology and its durable build. Don’t look any more, but this simple and effective tool right now and start planning your adventure!

For that one time, when it goes wrong and you need a lifeline.

It something you carry for that one event when you really need help. And, for the rest of the time, you are able to keep family and friends informed that you are safe. It is a must for my Search and Rescue crews.
I’ve had my inreach for several years but haven’t used the tracking feature until recently. When I couldn’t get it to work correctly I called and talked to a tech. He said that I needed to update it, which I did. I still can’t get it to give me an accurate distance traveled.

Thank you for your review and experience with the inReach Mini. We would like to discuss this further over email. If you would please email us at product.support@garmin.com. Thanks Jenny
It is compact and well built, but I am leery of using some modes because everything costs something. I have used SPOT for some time but wanted to be on a better satellite network.

The communication offered by the inReach from/to remote areas is extremely helpful and comforting. I recently used it to stay in touch daily with family and office during a 2-week herpetology expedition in the jungles of Peru where no other communication was possible. While it was totally blind while under forest canopy (most of time), it worked well while on river or in clearings with clear view to sky. It would take a bit of time to find/connect/communicate with a satellite, but I could compose message on iPhone, transmit with bluetooth to inReach, and have it sit in open area until link was made and text transmitted. The connection to a tracking and waypoint mapping app was also helpful in accurately returning via a meandering multi-branch path on an Amazon river tributary. The theoretical availability of the SOS function, while not used, was additional comfort. The on-unit interface of the inReach (without using a connected mobile phone) is incredibly primitive when compared to most smart watches (even Garmins?) and most other small devices, but does seem to work (but I would struggle to recommend this to a non-techie for other than SOS safety unless a connected mobile device was also available to engage with the other features.)
