Must have for any kind of outdoor activities

I purchased the inReach Mini after my husband and I were almost stranded while out hunting. We were at least 30 miles from cell service and had no way to contact anyone. We ended up walking out over 21 miles at night. The inReach Mini gives me the peace of mind that we can can contact others for help or just let loved ones know we are okay. My husband takes it out when he rides his dirtbike and I love the 10 minute tracking log so I can see where he is and where he has been. Family members love that I can give them a personalized link and they can track our location from home. It pairs easily with your cellphone for easy texting, map usage, etc. The battery life is also great. For the price of the unit and the subscription I would highly recommend this to anyone (beginner or expert) who does any type of outdoor activities. Especially if you really like to deep in the back country. Cell phones are not a reliable emergency tool. It is a satellite tool though so messages can sometimes take a while to come through.

Weight to reward is exceptional. Love this little guy. Anytime I am in the backcountry it comes along, even for day trips.

I would recommend this to anyone going in the backcountry. It's worth every penny. It has given me so much peace of mind when backpacking places out of cell service. My husband has, also, used it on hunting trips to notify me of a kill so I could meet him to pack it out. Appreciate the ability to send customized messages.

Peace of mind in the backcountry

I've found the operation of the device intuitive and the companion smart phone app makes it even easier to interact with. My wife appreciates the routine check ins when I'm on a long MTB ride or solo backpacking. I've made it a point not to go anywhere in the backcountry without it.

Non-negotiable

Non-negotiable gear for any mission in the mountains without service for more than a few hours. I always have mine in my pack or even use it in the car at remote trailheads. Gives my family peace of mind and allows them to track me when I'm on a speed-record attempt on a big route!

A necessary gadget when you are alone in the woods!

I strongly recommend Garmin inReach Mini. Im using it always when I go out, trout fishing, mushroom hunting , snowshoeing etc. I always stay in touch with my family and they know where I am. I have not use the SOS button yet, and hope not to use it at all, but it gives you peace of mind to know that in need you will get help anywhere you are.

Really struggled to hold a signal with this device

Purchased the inReach Mini to take along during day-long hikes, trail runs and, of course, multi-day backpacking trips. The first of these devices that I received from Garmin had trouble connecting with the Iridium satellite network and almost never could find a GPS signal. I exchanged that device for a second inReach mini, which performed better, but was still largely unreliable when it came to finding either Iridium or GPS signals; particularly under forest canopies or within the mountains. Because this device could not reliably function as an emergency contact unit, I had to purchase another more expensive unit to provide the reliable connectivity I sought: a Garmin GPSMap 66i
