It just works

The communicator just works. Sending message is quick and easy and menu is simple and intuitive to navigate. The free preset message are great features to let people know you are doing great. Overall, I highly recommend this product if you find yourself in places with limited cellular coverage.

So Far So Good

I got a chance to break in my inReach Mini yesterday and it worked great, at least the messaging and other non-SOS functions. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5-star rating is because I thought the initial setup and activation process was cumbersome and not as clear in the instructions as it could have been. but I’m always happy with my Garmin products.

Handy Little Guy

I used a friends before buying my own. That was seamless. When I purchased my own, I had troubles pairing it with the phone and left town shortly after. Anyone who purchases it allow some time to activate it, sign up for the right plan, update the firmware, and troubleshooting time. Definitely do all of this BEFORE you have no reception.

great for when there’s no cell phone service

I bought this inreach mini for keeping in touch when I’m out of cell phone range while boating or driving. It adds lots of peace of mind that I can still reach friends and relatives at all times.

Peace of Mind

Works fine only problem is it doesn’t stay connected to the Fenix 5S but I think this is more of a problem with the Fenix, it won’t stay connected to my phone either. But as far as the inReach Mini it stays connected to the phone just fine and works great.

Great communicator, not a great tracker

I bought the inReach Mini two months ago and am still working to understand how to use it as a tracker. The manual available on-line provides little reference to the available utility programs and interaction with https://explore.garmin.com/Map and Mapshare.
Garmin support responded quickly with information on utility programs and an introduction to how they can be used with the Mini.

The device in conjunction with the Earthmate app will give you detailed tracking information and the ability to also pre trip, download detailed maps and photographic images of the area you will be. Great device for backpacking!

Took a while to set up and get used to the functionality. Still not 100% comfortable but realized how valuable it is to have when hiking in the back country with no reception. Gave piece of mind in case we had a serious incident

Does what I got it for.

Used it for the first time on my hike without a cell signal and sent the preset message to my contact. Messages were received successfully along with the link to the location (you can turn on/off this option). I dont think I will really need to send messages other than the presets unless I am truly in trouble. Based on that I chose the lowest subscription option. Love the smaller size/weight. Only wish the selections were a bit more intuitive on the device. I think it should just highlight whatever option you want, but instead it is the option that appears in the center of the screen. Hard to explain unless you have used the device.
