Very easy to overflow when brewing in programmed mode. Makes a big mess. 3 times in the first month I have used it. After filling the coffee grounds you need to be sure to fit the plastic cone in the notch and PUSH DOWN with the carafe in place to be absolutely sure the spring loaded valve is opened. Very easy to do this wrong. Other coffee makers I have owned are no where near as difficult as this one.

Come on. It's a coffee maker. No frills but is reliable, solid, and works perfectly every time. It says "Cuisinart" on the front so my neighbors know I'm very stylish.

The coffee maker seems great - easy to use, relatively quick, all the things a coffee maker should be…. But… I can’t seem to get it to make a GOOD pot of coffee…. I have tried three different kinds/brands/roasts and none of them have been drinkable. All have little to no flavor and just taste like hot brown water. Just can’t figure it out compared to my last cheapie coffee maker….

Thank you for sharing your experience — we’re glad to hear you find the coffee maker easy to use, but we’re sorry the flavor hasn’t met expectations. For best results, we recommend using freshly ground coffee, ensuring the correct coffee-to-water ratio, and confirming the brew strength setting is properly selected. Our Consumer Assistance team would be happy to help troubleshoot and improve your brewing results at 1-800-726-0190.

This makes coffee as you'd expect, and the 14 cup carafe is nice when you need a bit more coffee than will fit in the 12 cup carafes that seem to be standard.
However, I don't love the carafe. The first issue is that it dribbles. This is common, seems like it's a problem more often that not in the coffee makers I've had over the years. The last one, a Mr Coffee, spoiled me, you could pour as fast as you like with no dribbling. With the carafe on this model, you need to pour fairly slowly to avoid drips, not too bad when filling a cup, but it makes it tedious to fill the machine before brewing.
Also, this is the first coffee maker I've had where the carafe lid is not hinged, so you can flip it up with your thumb. On this model, it snaps into place, there is no flipping up and down. If you want to remove the lid or open the carafe, you must rip the lid off, then snap it back in place to get it back on. Not sure how many cycles of that it will take to wear out the four little plastic tabs that keep it in place.

We like this coffee maker and prefer it. The one problem I see is that when the coffee is done brewing the alarm is so very faint. We've had Cuisinart coffee makers in the past that have had a loud tone so that we could tell the coffee was done pretty much anywhere in the house. Other than that we love the coffee maker!
