Controls are not as easy s the Sharp it replaced - wished I had gone to a store instead of choosing it online.

My microwave died a terrible death after 19 years of use, the GE microwave has all the features I was looking for, and preforms exactly as promised.

Started sparking after 6 months of use

I like the auto buttons on this microwave. Design is good. HOWEVER, after only 6 months of use (not heavy use by any standard), it began to glitch with a bright light and horrible buzz like a spark. It sounds like the noise of something metal inside when you are cooking, but it is coming from the microwave itself. I am afraid it will catch on fire. I am very displeased because I am a loyal GE product user. This is unacceptable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We've been using this microwave about 2 weeks now and it works wonderfully! No problems or complaints! OK, well, I did have a small problem with not being able to clear the display and found all you have to do is open the door! I felt really dumb! Almost identical to the one that 'died' so no learning curve either!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Quiet Powerhouse

This unit is clean-looking and streamlined. It operates surprisingly quietly, and with 1150 watts it heats foods thoroughly and quickly. We have been extremely impressed so far. It took a moment to get used to pressing "cook time" before entering a time (pressing a number will automatically start the microwave for that number of seconds times ten--e.g. #4 = 40 seconds; #5 = 50 seconds; etc) but the learning curve was brief and well worth it. We have owned the unit approximately one month and are quite pleased so far.
