Upgrade from JES1142SF001 (NOV 2002)

My earlier GE microwave oven (JES1142SF001 (NOV 2002)) served me very well up to Christmas Day, 2020 when it quit cooking. I expect this oven to last as long. Both the display and internal light are dimmer on the new oven (JES1657DMWW). I am still getting used to the new control pad and features, but overall I am very happy.

Easy to use

We recently replaced a GE micro that was over 20 years old. I think our old one was a little higher power. Other than that this one seems to work good. We are getting condensation on the glass, which I’ve never seen before in a micro. When we looked this up, it seems to be normal. It hasn’t seem to be affected by it. I would recommend GE products.

We just had our old ten year old unit give up the ghost so we bought this as the replacement. So far it's working great and it's half as loud as the previous unit which is great.

Good microwave for the price

The microwave is performing well. I like the one touch 30 second start. I haven’t used any of the advanced features yet. It seems to do a good job of hearing items evenly. We didn’t realize that most of the microwave is black rather than the silver on the front, but it happens to match well with our other appliances in that regard.
