My old GE refrigerator had adjustable/split shelves which were great for tall items. This one only has fixed shelves. In addition the space on the door only has limited space for tall bottles. This refrigerator has a tiny bit more cubic feet than the old one and it appears to be in the veg. bins. I wish I had my old one back.

The freezer door pops open every time you close the refrigerator door; sometimes the freezer door closes but sometimes stays open. The refrigerator doesn't have a water filter so the ice tastes terrible.

Hello, and thanks for taking the time to reach out to us about your concerns regarding this refrigerator. We hate to hear you have issues with the door and taste of the ice; we know issues like that would cause frustration and would like to assist.
If the freezer door opens when the refrigerator door is closed, and then closes on its own, that is normal and indicative of a good seal. If it doesn't close on its own, the rollers should be adjusted. Instructions for adjusting those are available in your manual, located here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60726-3.PDF
If the ice cubes have an odor or taste, the storage bin for ice may need cleaning. Food could also be transmitting odor or taste to the ice cubes; this can be reduced or eliminated if foods are wrapped well. If you would like to consider getting an in-line external water filter or review the options for filtration, that information is available on our Parts website: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/parts/ . Part number GXRLQK is generally compatible with units that don't have built-in filtering.
We hope this information is helpful, but if you have any other questions or concerns we're always happy to help. Best wishes! -Sarah@GEA
We purchased this refrigerator to replace a 37 years old Kenmore and have had it for about 2 months. Overall, it has been a good purchase considering the limited supply due to the pandemic. We are still getting used to the differences in the refrigerators. The ice maker works well but at times does not seem to keep up with our demand and usage. I like the stainless steel appearance(previous one was almond color) and fits in well with my other appliances. The crisper drawers are very deep and hold a lot of food. However, the spacing of the shelves seems somewhat narrow (because of the deep crisper drawers) and does not allow for taller items. The thermostat at the front of the refrigerator blocks usage space on that shelf. I realize I was spoiled having the same refrigerator for many years and we actually put it in the garage since it is still working.
