Hello. We appreciate you reaching out to us about your concern. We truly hate to hear the doors aren't closing correctly, especially as you also had an issue with the icemaker and freezing with your first unit. We know this would be frustrating.
You might want to make sure nothing is preventing the door from shutting properly, including any bins that aren’t fully closed. You may also want to check that the refrigerator has been properly leveled, to ensure the door is able to shut properly. We also have an article on our website with more details and troubleshooting information linked here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=18947 .
We hope those troubleshooting details may be helpful. If needed, our service department is available at 1-800-432-2737 and would be glad to offer assistance. We will also be informing our Design team of the trouble you've had with the door; we value your insight, as we always want to be aware of any potential issues. If you have any other questions or concerns, we're glad to offer assistance any time. -Sarah@GEA
I recently replaced my previous GE refrigerator, which I had for 22 years and never had a problem. This new refrigerator's design is not nearly as good, as the top shelf is limited in height by the light fixture and controls running from the back to the front. The shelves in the door are not as wide. The freezer door just started squeaking very loudly every time it is opened. I am very disappointed with this product.

Hello. We appreciate you submitting your feedback on this model, as well as your many years as a loyal GE consumer. We truly hate to hear you aren't satisfied with your new top-freezer refrigerator, and know this may have caused inconvenience.
Your feedback regarding the lack of top shelf height, the width of the shelves in the door and the freezer door squeaking will be sent to our Refrigerator Design team for future review and consideration. We truly value your insights, as we want to be sure we're aware of any possible areas of concern.
For the issue with your freezer door squeaking, you may be able to eliminate that by lubricating the top and bottom hinges with oil, then working the door back and forth until the squeak is gone. The oils we would recommend would be paraffin wax (which can be used on the door gaskets as well), petroleum jelly (which can also be used for hinges, gaskets or drawers/bins), or mineral oil (which can be used anywhere on the refrigerator). We hope this information may be helpful in resolving the squeak.
Going forward, we will strive to earn back your faith in our brand. If you have any other questions or concerns, we are always happy to offer assistance. Thanks for being part of our GE Family! -Sarah@GEA
I bought this fridge as a replacement for a Frigidaire stainless steel fridge that was installed 20 years ago. The configuration of the GE is different than the Frigidaire. Its freezer is larger but at the expense of Fridge space. Also, the cold cut/cheese drawer is very shallow and the shelves in the GE are not really adjustable. The GE has much larger door shelves that hold gallon containers. Many have complained about the GE noise level, but that did not bother me at all. The freezer does not have a light, that is something that should be addressed considering the price point of this fridge.
Gets really hot on outside. Ice maker doesnt make ice. contacted GE about it. Told them im not satisfied and it needs fixed. They acted like its not their problem. My house is full of whirlpool appliances. Never had a single issue with any of them. Buy american made. Dont waste your money on GE’s chinese made junk.
