Upgraded from a kitchenaid artisan tilt head mixer as I mainly found myself doing bread and large batches of pizza dough which the artisan would not handle well.
I looked at the commercial model and did a lot of research and found the machines mechanicals are identical!
Exactly the same DC motor and gearset.
Only difference between the commercial model and the proline is the cord,saftey cage,flat beater and dough hook are stainless steel also the larger bowl and nsf certification.
I can easily do 12 cup flour batches of pizza dough in the supplied 6.9 litre mixing bowl which makes enough for 8, 12" pizzas. (The larger commercial bowl also fits this mixer if needed as the machine is the exact same size).
Kneading on speed 2 for 8 minutes per batch the proline doesn't even break a sweat and powers through the job,something the artisan couldn't even hope to do without overheating and walking off the bench top.
The proline is rock solid on the bench even at high speed and the DC motor is very quiet in its operation.
The unit is easy to clean and once used to the bowl lift operation you'll appreciate its design and simplicity.
When adjusted correctly there is no missed flour in the bottom of the bowl and yes I tried it "the two egg white wisk test"just to see, and I can report successful stiff peaks in no time.
A solid workhorse in my kitchen and well worth the investment.
If you just want to make packet cake mix and whip up some cream for a batch of scones id definitely recommend the tilt head kitchenaid mixers.
Just a note,I designed and built my kitchen knowing I had to fit the KA proline under my cabinets as this is not something you take in and out of the cupboard 6 times a week,check the specs and your cabinet height before ordering.

Just bought my new baby and she is lovely. After washing and Adjusting beaters for clearance and it mixes beautifully and so quiet. I look forward to baking more and trying out new recipes. Would be nice to have a small recipe book enclosed with mixer.

I purchased this mixer predominantly to make dough mix. I still have a KitchenAid KSM150 which is about 20 years old and still working beautifully but as I make enough dough for 2 loaves thought it was time to upgrade. This mixer is a dream, attaching the bowl took a little while to become accustomed to but the mixer is so much more stable when handling a heavy mix. I love both my mixers and would not consider a different brand.

I'm very pleasantly surprised. It's very sturdy, it makes multitasking easier since you don't have to worry about the bowl moving. I thought it was going to sound like an airplane taking off, but my hand mixer is actually louder. It's a bit tricky to attach the bowl to the machine but it's not really a problem. I'm very happy with my purchase.
