Loading all your apps with Windows makes them quicker to load when you want to use them, but it slows down Windows itself loading. Managing your startup programs will help to make Windows boot faster. You can go into the task manager, click on the startup tab, this displays a list of everything that can load when you turn on your machine. Now everything that is enabled switch those apps to disabled. This should help with your slowness. In addition, we recommend utilizing our Lenovo Vantage app by making sure all of your drivers are up to date. This will ensure your system is working at optimal performance. This is my second Lenovo. I didn't consider any other brand as was very happy with first one. However this one from day one has connection problems with wifi where it drops signal and then reconnects. Incredibly annoying and kills productivity. I would return the computer if I could. Everything else is great but this one issue kills it.

This unit is “more computer” than I need for home use, but the price was excellent because I bought it on cyber Monday. My home laptop was old & slow; & it was time to get a new one. Love this new E580, it’s faster, & newer compared to my old one for sure; music, surfing the internet, & streaming movies/videos all works better now. And I like inclusion of the number pad in the keyboard. A happy customer!

Flashed Archlinux on the machine right as I received it and everything works out of the box without the need to fiddle with drivers. Now to wait for Lenovo to support updating the BIOS/UEFI firmware directly through Linux for the hardware on this machine. Looking forward to that.

Overall I am extremely happy with this ThinkPad. However, initially I had a difficult time as some of the keys were not correct. I tried to use English UK instead of US but the keys were mixed up. After trying US the keys were ok. Frustrating...
