Absolutely brilliant

I got this Bosch unit to replace the contractor grade (read cheap) unit that was in the house when I bought it, and was a pain to use because the temperature setting was at best a suggestion, and on average a vague guess, not that it would hold any temperature anyway and required constant monitory and fiddling. In addition, the heat throughout was uneven and cleaning it was high adventure.
The Bosch, however, is absolutely brilliant. Set the temperature, and it stays there, heat is even left to right and front to back. The two lights and large glass make it easy to check what is going on (old one might as well have been a submarine porthole). Not having the exposed lower heating element, it is a snap to clean, having struggled with balky racks in other ovens, the telescopic rack is a marvel.
The overall design and black stainless gives a nice clean appearance and would fit in most kitchen decor. The controls are easy to use and intuitive, plenty of settings and the convection broil is a genius option, especially if you are using it to finish sous vide meat of some sort . Overall, I find I use it more than the old one just because, stealing from an old BMW (speaking of Bosch electronics) slogan, "Freude am Kochen."
There is only one thing I would suggest be changed. The single unit has an air fry setting the double does not. Using the convection bake essentially does the same thing so it is by no means a show stopper (YMMV), but it would be nice to have that in the double as well.
In a new build or replacing an old unit, one cannot go wrong with this.

Doesn’t maintain temp

Remodeled the kitchen lat year. Added a Bosch 800 double oven. The Christmas baking seemed to take longer than expected. Then when it came to cooking the Christmas turkey it took 6 hours. I put in an electric thermometer the oven got up to temperature then dropped 50 degrees. Ive had the service people out twice. Now the oven doesn't even get off preheat. So I will be calling again today.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nice Looking Oven with Flaws

This Bosch blasck stainless steel double wall oven looks spectacular and has many very versatile features and capabilities. The ovens are very large and the heat distribution seems very even. It does an excellent job baking, roasting, convection roasting, etc.
Two flaws have emerged. First, about a week after installation, the "soft close" on the opper oven door stopped working, causing the oven door to close quickly with a loud and forceful slam if it was not held while closing. THis flaw is scheduled for warranty repair and Bosch was yimely in approving and arranging this repair. Hint: register your appliance immeditely!
Second, and more seriously, the venting fan (not the convection fan) which comes on automatically as the oven warms up and stays on until it starts to cool down when turned off, is extrmely loud and forceful. The stream of forced air from the top of both oven doors is very annoying - it can blow your hair back if you are standing a foot away looking into the oven. Plus, it emits a two-toned sound that is a low roar coupled with a high-pitched whine. This is by far the worse feature of this oven. One can hardly stand to be in the kitchen when the oven is on. THe loudness and tone of the fan is actually headache-inducing.
If not for the fan problem, I would rate this oven 4 - 5 stars. As it is, I can't rate it more than 3. Very frustrating.
