dont waste the money

it worked once now it has a full charge but just shuts off when i try to touch speed or guard hight worst shaver ive ever owned broke within 2 weeks

I bought this particular trimmer thinking that it would be a good replacement for my previous trimmer. I got it home, charged it up and used it. At first I was very pleased with its performance. A week later I picked up my trimmer for weekly maintenance of my goatee and found that the battery had completely lost all charge. With more experimentation, I found that after only two days the battery was fully discharged. This trimmer turned out to be a great disappointment.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Moves by itself and battery only lasts seconds!

I purchased this razor two months ago and was initially very pleased. The trimmer is sturdy, not too heavy, stylish and works well the once a week I use it. Two weeks ago, after charging, the unit only lasted about one minute. I thought that maybe I had not really charged it, but a few days later the same result. Yesterday, again after charging, I turned it on and the blade extended all the way to the full extent. When I pressed the down button, as soon as I let go it went right back up. Nothing I do works. The battery only lasts seconds and the razor won't retract. I will be filing a warranty claim asap.

Bought these about 12 months ago, to replace older Remington clippers. Had issues with my old clippers occasionally snapping the plastic guides (which I always used). These guides are even worse!
Apart from the surprisingly long recommended charge time of 12-14 hours, they seem like a good product..... let down by poorly designed, cheap, flimsy plastic guides that snap even with careful use - the box it all came in probably cost more than the guides to make!
Next step - Customer Services.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I received this as a gift and like others the battery stopped holding a charge after the first couple of weeks. The shaver gets locked up quite frequently where no button pressing does anything. I ended up using it as a plug in trimmer but now that doesn't even work.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Clean Cut...

Used this for the first time yesterday. Much cleaner/sharper cut then my previous clipper. Only problem is the cut hair seems to clump up in the guide. This is the 4th clipper I have had in 8 years and as far as cutting goes, the best...by far. I will figure out the clumping part, that is minor versus clean cut.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Cuts well, but accessories need work

The HC 5550 cuts really well, it cleans up easily, the cord/less options is nice, and I like the idea of having one comb that adjusts in size, but because of the design of the combs, they tend to trap the cut hair inside them instead of just letting it all fall to the ground.
Also, they don't make a tapered comb (for trimming around your ears) for this product (and none of their other tapers will fit).
I would recommend this to a friend!
