The T-Rex is made of textured hard plastic that has been painted to replicate the look and feel of the Jurassic World T-Rex.
Features:
The T-Rex has various features which add to the T-Rex’s characteristics which captivates the child’s imagination such as an articulated mouth and tail combination with a good sounding roar (doesn’t sound tinny like some toys do). Moving the tail up or down makes the head of the T-Rex move up and down while opening its mouth and roaring which again adds to the imagination. Moving the tail side to side also makes the T-Rex’s head move side to side so it is possible to swish toys around in the T-Rex’s mouth before opening and “throwing” another toy out of the mouth. There is a button underneath the left foot that when pressed sounds a stomping down to recreate the weight and size of a T-Rex which again adds to the character of the T-Rex.
The downfall of the thrash and throw T-Rex lies in its design:
The T-Rex seems to have weight distribution issues which makes it difficult for the T-Rex to actually stand on its two feet leaving it to frequently topple over. Moving the tail up and down is difficult for a young child as it does require a bit of strength to hold the T-Rex in one place while the tail is manoeuvred to make it bite or roar.
The good points: * Good textures on the hard plastic skin * Realistic look of the T-Rex’s facial features * Sound effects are of a nice quality and don’t sound “tinny” * Good toy for a child that’s around 7/8 and above * T-Rex is articulated well and can pick toys up in its mouth with practice and thrash them around before throwing them * Good for the imagination and recreating the T-Rex scenarios a child will create
The negative points: * The weight distribution is not even making it difficult for the toy to stand on its own * Takes a bit of strength to pull the tail up and down for the chomp and roar features to work * Takes both hands to achieve the chomp and roar features, one to hold the dinosaur in place while the other moves the tail - impossible to only move the tail. * The segmented design of the body take away from the aesthetic of the T-Rex
Overall verdict:
A good toy for a child that is from 7/8 years or older, the features captivate the imagination and allow them to play with the power of a T-Rex including biting another toy, swishing it around and then throwing it all with the use of the tail. As long as the child has the strength to manipulate the tail and hold the T-Rex in place. The toy will fall over really easily which means they’ve always got to have a hand on it in order to play with it. Looking past a couple of design issues the toy is a good addition to a dinosaur fan.
My 5 year old loved this. He loved the noises it made and the fact he could find plenty of things to catch for him to eat.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Dinosaur Toy

This dinosaur has many great features, such as it can roar, chomp and swish its head side to side. All of these actions are controlled by manipulating the tail, which can be difficult to do sometimes.
The legs on the dinosaur also change position to adjust the posture of the toy, however this is quite clunky and not really in fitting with the other actions of the toy. A button on the feet allows the dinosaur to produce a walking sound whilst children pretend to walk it
The orientation of the feet are also changeable, however again this seems a superficial addition as it is largely pointless.
The dinosaur is able to stand freely with the legs positioned in a specific way, however only just and not much is required to topple it over.
All sounds from the toy are excellent and clear (eg Roar, Swishing, Stomping). Detail to dinosaur skin is great.
I received this a month ago and the T-rex has been a great hit in my house with the boys! They love imitating all the different sounds it makes. Really well made definitely recommend it.
Actually really disappointed with the features of this toy. Given to my boys at Christmas and it's barely been looked at as it does very little. My boys like dinosaurs but they're not dino mad, imagine it would be a great toy for a child very into dinosaurs
