This isn't the experience we wanted our Customer to have with our JBL Bar 5.1. Please try these steps with the soundbar to isolate the issue. Make sure that the TV is muted, if you're playing audio from the soundbar. Please try to reset the audio settings by pressing and holding the SOUND button on the remote control for five seconds. If you need more help, please reach out to our Customer Support in India. https://support.jbl.com/in/en/

Great for small rooms, some issues
on May 28, 2020

I bought this sound bar a week ago, and I loved the sound that came from it. Note that I have installed this sound bar in a relatively small room, so the other reviews where there are complaints about lack luster sound still may be valid because they installed it in a larger room. It truly gives surround sound feel and I love it so far for music and for gaming.
I do have two complaints about the soundbar, however, it might not be entirely JBLs fault for the first complaint. The first complaint pertains to the autstandby feature required for all soundbars. For the first couple of days, the sound bar would shut off at every 10 minute interval. Because the time intervals were so exact, I knew that this was an autostandby issue where the soundbar was not recognizing it was receiving sound, even though it was playing sound. This is obviously a major issue. After talking with JBL customer support, we got nowhere in terms of solving the problem. After some personal troubleshooting, I found that reinstalling fresh motherboard realtek drivers fixed the issue. For others that may have this issue, the proper driver is realtek digital audio (s/pdif). I don't blame JBL for this issue, though, because motherboard driver issues are kind of out of their control. However, it would have been nice to have a note in the user's manual pertaining to updating audio drivers.
For the second complaint, it would have been nice to have a notice somewhere pretty obvious that this product will interfere with certain frequency channels on the 5 ghz wifi frequency range. After installing this soundbar, I realized that my wifi speed had be reduced by a whole order of magnitude. After a lot of trouble shooting and frustration, I realized that unplugging the sound bar fixed the issue, which meant that the sound bar communicated on similar frequencies as my wifi. I had to go and look up frequency bands for the channels available to me, and switch to a non-interfering channel.
I understand that really both of these issues are not directly JBLs fault, but it did taint my initial experience with the product. I also hope that this information helps anybody else trying to troubleshoot these issues, because the internet was wholey unhelpful.

Currently going on about 2-3 weeks of use on a daily basis. We have watched movies and used for listing to music, impressive range of sound between the two. Love the surround sound feature with removable speakers and deep pounding bass! Definitely able to rock the neighborhood... FYI this comes with mounts to wall hang both the sound bar and removable speakers.

I have always had a surround sound 5.1 - 9.1 over the years. I just moved and downsized everything.. And with this llig in and play surround sound you don't need a receiver. The TV's are equipped to pit out quality sound.. I use HDMI (included) cord and have this on my boat. Use the mini included microphone to get the sound dialed into your room and where you sit. Its simple to do, just follow a couple steps included in instructions.
The base hase a Good deep sound, so good you don't need to up the base level to het a quality thumping base that makes movies awesome.
If you have the extra cash, go for the 9.1 sound bar, about twice the cost but over 800 watts.. Me personally, over 500 wats was more than enough.
When it's movie time, I remove the 2 rear speakers from the sound bar and place behind me for that true surround sound. AWESOME! I recommend the 5.1 sound bar!

I hooked this up on a Thursday evening worked fine and sounded good. Saturday morning no sound and no picture. Tried multiple solutions and had to send bar back. Currently waiting for a replacement, which I have to wait for them to process. Currently disappointed with my purchase as I have no sound system in my living room. Item was purchased on 4/12 .

DO NOT UPGRADE 5.1 BAR
on July 17, 2021

I bought this bar 2 years ago, hdmi arc never worked properly, but with the optical cable it did. After doing the upgrade (wich i successfully install it) the woofer sounds like it's broken, and the sourround speaker sound cuts every 1 or 2 seconds. I contacted the support team and no answer, I think you can't make a downgrade, so be careful, or you would finish with a damage home theater.

Technical Issues

I bought his Nov 2021, right after box it had bluetooth connection issue (unable to use bluetooth) also the surround made noise when it was disconnected. After a phone call with customer service, they accept to replace. But it was on back order. Finally it got in stock on Jul 2022 which I sent it back and got the replacement. The replacement unit had 2 issues, subwoofer making popping noise and surround speakers also making noise when disconnected. Another call and replacement ordered Now I got the 3rd unit. This time it still has the subwoofer popping noise. I am tired of opening a new claim again and after a long wait time (from the day I need to send back till I receive a replacement) and very disappointed with this unit. Not recommended
