Buyer beware this item

Had it for a while then things went horribly bad. It has a static like hum when you hear treble in voices and the woofer sounds like a rumble in the next room that is pretty near constant. It's very frustrating, I want to replace it but it was pretty costly for such a short lifespan. Everything seemed to start right around the end of any warranty and return window.... I wouldn't ever buy again and I have lots of JBL products that I use almost every day for years.

Great idea, bad execution

Wireless only satellite speakers that die after about 3 hours of use with no option to power them. Incapable of passing through 4k HDMI without over heating. You have to cycle through all inputs even if yiuvonly use two of them. Ohhh and the calibration tool for the satellite speakers doesn't work. This has been a pretty bad experience so far.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Each wireless surround speaker of our JBL Bar 5.1 features 10 hours of playtime. after a full charge. You can also charge it via the USB connector, located on the bottom of the speaker. To continue providing you with proper troubleshooting steps, please contact our customer support.

Best sound bar ever!

I couldn't be happier with my recent purchase of the 501 sound bar with detachable speakers. This is my second JBL sound bar, so I knew the sound would be good, and this was an upgrade from my last one, which was a 201. As a "baby boomer" who remembers the good old days of component stereo systems, the quality of sound and richness of the bass reminds me of those old days. The detachable speaker option is wonderful and I love having surround sound. But the best part may have been the price! When I went to your website and found my system on sale for 43% off, I actually thought you'd made a mistake, and ordered as quickly as I could before you discovered what you'd done!! Absolutely incredible value on such a high quality system. Rest assured I'm singing the praises of my new sound bar to anybody who will listen! Merry Christmas to me!!

Sounds Great....but

I bought this system to go in our new camper for those movie nights when it's raining or cold out. The system is easy to set up and sounds amazing. The surround sound makes movies come to life. I think the favorite part is the deep bass from the 10" sub. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because one of the small surround sound speakers will not charge on its dock while the system is off. This makes it inconvenient since I have to remember to plug that speaker into a wall wart to charge it up before enjoying movie time.

The satellite speakers of the JBL Bar 5.1 will start charging once the soundbar switches to standby mode. After the soundbar powers on by pressing the power button on the soundbar or the remote control, the satellite speakers will stop charging. Bought this on cyber money. Sounds great and like the movable speakers. I wish the subwoofer would pick up Bluetooth with a little more distance since it’s in a large open room. Overall great product.
