I love this sound bar and woofer. My only complaint is that the 2 small speakers don't sound as good when away from the bar. Other then that it's a great buy.
Super smart design with the battery-powered speakers, we don’t have a TV room where we could easily hard-wire surround sound, now we don’t have to. Brilliant!
I had a Sony system that was top rated with 1000 watts. I had no idea the quality of sound I was missing out on! The quality of the JBL 5.1 wireless surround system is so much more clear and powerful. I really feel like I am not just watching the experience but that I am in the experience. I was shocked how well the wireless surround speakers sound, and the bass is rich and sweet. The best part is that everything is wireless!! I thought I would be disappointed with the wireless surround speakers, because of their compact size, but they have big crystal clear sound. In other reviews on this system I read a few times that there are not much mids, I don't know exactly what that means but this system isn't missing any sound quality for me. One last thing, you can adjust the volume of all the speakers easily on the remote, so even if you are in an apartment you can enjoy it just as much without killing your neighbors with bass, etc.
I bought this a week or so ago and I can honestly say this is the best wireless home theater system I have ever purchased. Music, movies, gaming I can literally hear the keys clacking on a keyboard to my right or a person whispering something in the characters ear. BEST PURCHASE EVER
The shipping box is large and weighs over 50 lbs. The product box is an unusual shape, because they put the bar, the satellites, the cables, and the subwoofer all in the same box, without having a lot of empty space. That box weighs nearly as much as the shipping box. I recommend opening both boxes near your door and carrying the individual pieces to your desired location.
After unpacking everything and carrying it to the basement, I plugged my Xbox One into the HDMI 1 input, and my projector into the HDMI ARC port (and brought my old speaker bar upstairs to my home office). The satellite speakers charge by plugging them in to the main bar. They take less than 3 hours to charge (it would be cool if they came fully charged, but that may not be desirable from a technical standpoint). After charging the surround speakers I had to try it out. It was literally a game changer. I've been playing World of Tanks for years, and it was so much more fun with the surround speakers behind and to the side! It really makes a difference in determining if the incoming artillery fire is near or far, if the friendly that got destroyed was close, or if the enemy fire that is hitting you is coming from behind without having to look at the map instead of the enemy in front. It's also pretty fun for normal movie/series audio. Sounds that are intended to be present but subtle aren't masked by the main audio.
The remote has separate controls for the surround speakers and the subwoofer, but the main bar does not have such controls, so make sure to keep track of the remote.
I have mostly used it at night, with the night mode turned on so loud sounds aren't as loud, so I don't know how loud it gets. But watching a Lord of the Rings movie with it about half volume was pretty loud, and the subwoofer was making things on the wall rattle, despite being directly on carpet.
I do wish the surround speakers could be charged in place, e.g. mount them on the wall and have a USB port behind them, or a cable that could plug in to the nearest wall outlet, or even have an option to be fully powered instead of having to be charged. But for the price, I'm happy with it.
Some tips after using it for a bit: if you use the HDMI ARC port for video output, be sure to turn the video source on before the speaker bar, as it will be more likely to select the right input port when you turn it on. Also, be sure to put the bar into standby mode when you're done, so the surround speakers don't drain too quickly, as well as to make sure they actually charge (they won't charge with the bar on).
As others have stated the mid-range is muddy. Comes with several EQ and sound presets. I found the best sounding one for movies, sports, music and tv is “movies.” I don’t change from that. The sub woofer is awesome. Overall sound is good. But it really needs an eq to tweak the sound.
