Thundering BASS

I bought this product last week and I have turned on the Dallas Cowboys game and you could hear everything so crisp. With my previous system I couldn't hear the intricate little background sounds like I can with this system. The bass is extremely loud and it makes my entire house shake. I love bass so this system suits me perfectly. Music is clear and it is easy to control the system through the remote. I would highly recommend this if you are an avid movie watcher or love playing your music loud. The sub is probably a good 40 pounds so that right there shows the quality of the product.

Purchased this set a month ago and have to say I am very satisfied. It is important to set it up properly with the configuration tool/antenna, but once set up properly it provides very good sound.
There have been some reviews which described a weak mid-range. This is true. But if you configure properly, and set the sub to a decently level, it allows the midrange to come through.
I have found that mid-range is most notable when streaming through Bluetooth. Rock music for example can sound horrible (with certain songs) Other music, like classical or vocal, sound absolutely superb. Please note this is with Bluetooth content. This is an important point. I have also tested music dvds both rock and vocal and they sound excellent when supporting DTS audio or Dolby audio. This makes sense. If you use the encoding available for the speakers, they sound excellent and to my ears do not suffer from the mid-range problem.
This is also why movies sound so good. They will also default to DTS or Dolby audio, or you can also choose prior to starting whatever you’re watching.
I tested several movies: Jurassic Park, The Avengers, Thor: Ragnarok, Kate & Leopold, Fifth Element and Immortal Beloved. For music, I tested with Matchbox 20: Storytellers, and Billy Idol: Storytellers. For these examples, separation, and bass response were absolutely accurate and excellent. You could hear different instruments in the rear speakers in the Matchbox 20, and fans cheering through rear speakers on Billy Idol’s dvd. For Jurassic Park, a movie known as a bit of a benchmark for surround audio, the speakers did not disappoint. Bass content kicked in when appropriate and the rear speakers were very accurate when simulating audio from behind. Thor: Ragnarok was a great test for these speakers, as it had “rock” type music in it at certain scenes and the audio in general made the music much more enjoyable.
The only thing I noticed is that I recently purchased the 4K version of Independence Day which is encoded for DTS:X 7.1 audio. In this case the audio seemed muted and not as engaging. It was then that I realized that the speakers may have a problem with this encoding, as when using older 4K blu-rays or even DVDs which are encoded for 5.1 audio, such as Jurassic Park, the speakers did not disappoint whatsoever.
Those on the fence about these speakers need not be. If you use content encoded for DTS 5.1 audio, or Dolby, you will not be disappointed. The speakers really deliver.
Hopefully down the road, JBL can release a firmware update which fixes support for Bluetooth streaming, and support for DTS X 7.1. It’s not a 7.1 setup, but a fix to better handle 4K discs which support this audio format, as they are becoming more common.
Hope this helps!

Defect?

I bought this 3 months ago. The sound is great, and the fact that its true wireless is awesome. I want to love it, but my unit may have a defect. Occasionally, it loses power and will not turn on. I can try everything (taking off the surround speakers, plugging in to a different outlet/ power strip, etc.) but it sometimes takes a few attempts to power off, then power on the device and connected source (using ARC connection) to get it to turn on. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this also.

wireless surround cuts in and out.

This is an awesome system as a concept. On occasion the wireless connections to the subwoofers and wireless speakers work it works really well. But most of the time the wireless signal to the sub and wireless speakers cuts in and out making for patchy audio and a horrible headache causing experience. If the wireless connections worked consistently it would be flawless.
