Very muddy sound. The wireless speaker battery didn't last long, as soon as you detached it from sound bar its dead right away. Battery dead in less than 5 seconds. Good at first but didn't last.

This isn't the experience we wanted our customers to have with our products. We would also recommend trying to charge the surround speakers by using a micro-USB cable. The charging time for the surround speakers is up to 3 hours. If you need more help, please reach out to our Customer Support.
I have been waiting for years to find a system with the sound quality and afforadable price that this offers. Thank you JBL!! I am even considering charging admission for movies in my living room! ha ha
Bought this system about a year ago due to the name and wireless speakers you can place anyplace without power. It’s been about a year and they have stopped working wirelessly. If you just take off 1 it works when you disconnect both they stop working . Face it all they build out there is junk . It’s a sound bar if that’s all you want it’s fine but I think you can spend far less.

Thanks for taking the time in providing your feedback with our JBL Bar 5.1. Please make sure that surround speakers have a charge. You can also try charging it by plugging a micro-USB cable into the surround speakers itself. If you need more help, please reach out to our Customer Support.
Nowhere on the start-up guide mentioned that calibration would make an extremely loud white noise. The calibration instructions on it were not enough to help customers successfully calibrate. I have attached instructions from customer service at the end of this review. The rear speakers are weak and small. I should have predicted this before making the purchase to save me some hassle. The wireless connections from the soundbar to the rear speakers are faulty. They can play background sounds fine, but voices from the rear speakers are choppy like their signal is interrupted. Not JBL's fault, but I have realized that having to detach and reattach the rear speakers from the soundbar is annoying. The 10" subwoofer is quite powerful though, that is the only good thing about this system. The sound quality is inferior to other sound systems in its price range.
Instructions for Calibration: "AUDIO CALIBRATION - Remove the wireless surround speakers from the soundbar. - Connect the microphone into the connector on the right side of the soundbar. - Place the microphone at ear-level at the listening position. For best surround sound effect, position the wireless surround speakers to the sides and slightly behind the listening area. - Be sure to point the narrow side of the surround speaker towards the listening area, and remove any obstruction between the microphone and the wireless surround speakers. - Press and hold the calibration button for 3 seconds. The calibration sequence will begin with a countdown.
NOTE: any ambient noise or sounds may disrupt the calibration sequence. Step out of the way and remain silent during the calibration. After the calibration is complete, unplug the microphone and save for later. NOTE: Audio calibration settings are saved for specific wireless speaker locations. If the wireless speakers are moved to different locations, then the audio calibration settings should be re-measured."

I have had this home theater for about a week now. The sound is really amazing. If you love the surround effect you will love this home theater. The bad part is that sometimes the rear speakers shut off the audio for a second. Which can be very annoying when the movie is in the middle of an epic scene.
I am so happy I decided to buy my JBL bar 5.1. And the best part of it that I got a good deal for it. My dad being a DJ approved of the sound quality I had wit my new bar 5.1. Can't be any more happier than what I am.
