Great quality bag!

High quality functional bag that is also super cute. Love the blue color! Great mid size bag big enough to store all my stuff but small enough to carry around day to day. The side access zipper to the laptop section makes things easily accessible.

Nice looking, tough bag, not great design

I have a few Thule backpacks, this one was a gift. Like all Thule bags it is made tough and looks nice. I use my bag for daily commuting to work by bus, train and taxi and this bag has some big flaws. First, there are a lack of external pockets to quickly stash phone, coins, sunglasses...and face masks. Second, the main pockets are designed to be easily accessed, but frankly it is too easy and borderline insecure. Think twice about this bag, there are many better choices by Thule.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Thule EnRoute 20L should be able to close securely using the straps connecting to the fold-over top flap. If the zippers are positioned at the top of the flap when it is closed, it will be more difficult to access the main compartment.
The 20L model does have one external pocket along the top flap, which is padded to safely carry things like sunglasses or cell phones. The side mesh pocket can also be used as a quick-access "stash" pocket if not filled with a water bottle.
Please take a look at the other backpacks in the Thule EnRoute product line to find one that best suits your needs!
